My lads 406 failed its mot, halfords, failed on an outer cv boot and both droplinks, the rubber boot had perished. "That'll be £300 to fix sir".
Lad made quick phone call to me and told them it's ok we'll do it ourselves. "oh" says manager "haven't we offered you a deal. We could do it for £150."
It's going to be okay today so that's this morning sorted. Teaching lad how to fix stuff.

Re: Mot fail.
HOW MUCH!? Insane... Halfords should be shut down, along with most other useless "chains". Bring back the back-yard garage, which thankfully still exist.

Re: Mot fail.
They had quoted £140 to do both droplinks and £160 to change the cv boot.
On a ramp that's probably an hours work with air tools, bargain.

I had a similar experience with Kwik Fit when they failed the other halfs 307 on CV boot insecure.
They quoted around £160 for supply and fitting a new boot, new clip cost about £1 from my LMF - job done!
