Dipped beam dashboard indicator not working (pics inside)

Post by fattail95 »

Hi guys

The green dipped beam indicator (as below) in my instrument cluster isn't working...

Image

However, my instrument cluster is the old fashioned one, with 2 plugs I believe? Its a 2.0HDi 110 semi-mux, without the oil temp gauge (as below):

Image

How do I go about replacing the bulb? Are they LEDs that are soldered to the board, or removable bulbs?

I saw this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnEslfVhxOo , which looks to be exactly the same cluster, and it look like the bulbs are removable (white cap looking things on the back)?

Image

If they are replaceable, where do I get the bulbs from?

Many thanks!

I'm 99% sure it will be an LED.

Are both your dip beams working? (Because I'm fairly sure the w/l is tapped off one of them after the fuses).

IIRC the drawing in the Haynes b.o.l should be correct for yours

Yeah they both work. I did an instrument cluster test on PP2000 and the main beam one worked ok, but not this one. I rang my local Pug dealer up and they got the exploded parts diagram for my model and said its just one of those 611256 bulbs: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111352654406? ... 1439.l2649

I suspect they went led when they went full-mux. there's only one way to find out for sure...

I miss having an indicator for dips on the yoyo, there's compulsory daytime dips in the winter here and I have to keep checking the stalk every time I see a cop car :frown:

Well that was my understanding. This is a semi-mux car so fingers crossed! When I get time to get the binnacle out I'll pop a pic up :)

Didn't get a pic, but I took the binnacle out yesterday, and it was the twist in filament bulbs :D Turns out it was blown, so replaced it and we're sorted!

Yup :) I suspect all semi-mux cars had this setup, and the switchover to LED occurred when the full-mux cars came out.
