Saw this car on eBay, and couldn't help but notice it had a display I've not seen before. Its not a type B, nor type C, so it must be a type A?
Why don't we see more of these displays? Were they not produced for very long or something?

There wasnt many made because the type b was standard with most trim levels, the most basic of D9's came with these screens and manual heater controls without air con. The odd one pops up on ebay now and then.

That's the same as mine. Same display and same heater controls, but mine does have aircon. It's a 2002/51 plate
