Winter Tyres - Steering and Handling capers

Post by Welly »

I think I've said this before but does anyone that runs Winter's find their car takes on a weird 'disconnected' feel?

Obvs the rubber is squishy and the tread blocks shift around a bit so it makes sense that it'll feel 'different'.

Only asking as I had a but-clencher this morning with the side-wind nearly pushing me into the Armco  it is *very* windy though. Was also wondering if my tyres were 'going off' as it were, even though they're only 3 years old and still have 6mm.

Winter tyres are significantly softer, I definitely notice it on my car.

It helps if you put a couple PSI more than spec in them. Not a lot, just 2-3 PSI over.

I can't say I've really noticed much, maybe a tad squidgier but nothing to worry about :?

Did the guy with the windey handle fit them the right was around?

Noticeably less "sharp", but otherwise no problems at all.

Yeah they're all on the right way, I mustard mitt the very first time I put them on 3 years ago I got to the first corner and nearly shat myself at the lack of steerage.

They've only been on a week I guess I need to adjust to them again.

Cheers for the pressure tip Kosmo, the windey-handle man squirted 32PSi's into them (I normally prefer 34) but didn't want to make a fuss under the circumstances so I'll squib a bit more air in and see how it feels.

Looking forward to some weather bombage :cheesy:
