Out and about yesterday, I stopped at a crossroad. (Major road crossing in front.) Saw the guy coming up behind in, yes, you guessed, a BMW 5 series. A shriek of tyres, and then an almighty crash, but the car hardly moved on its suspension. (I had put my foot down hard on the brakes, as well as already having handbrake on.) I got out and his front end had been rather noticeably rearranged. I asked, quite reasonably I thought, what was his problem that he was not going to stop at the junction. His reply was that he had been playing with his new automatic umbrella, which I saw was 'up' on the passenger seat. I pointed out my rear view video camera, showed him the playback, and it was agreed that I had no need to get involved with his claim on insurance.

I've been looking at vids from my fun & games last night. I was actually wrong, I thought the moron on the way to Zagreb was driving an Alfa but that wasn't him, he was a couple of cars back, I've no idea what car it was tailgating me. Driving out of Jaska I was taking it easy as it was dark and I'd already seen there was loads of cops about (they must have run out of beer money again) doing 70kmh most of the way but slowing for crossings, nuilt-up areas, coppers waiving cooking spoons, that sort of thing. This twat behind me with his overpowered lights kept sliding out for a view and pulling back in again and I was thinking maybe it was a 1 litre Polo or something, not enough power to pull the skin off a rice pudding. After 14 km an Alfa 156 spurt wagon overtook blasting hos horn, but looking at the vid I reckon it was the idiot behind he was having a pop at. Said idiot followed the Alfa but I don't know what it was.

As usual on the vids everything looks miles away because of the wide-angle lens. I also noticed the lens of the front camera was filthy so everything's foggy

Name that car:
Image

One the way back where the artic overtook there's a set of lights with a pedestrian crossing and 40kmh speed limit, then there's a tight bit over a little bridge followed by a right hander.

Here he comes past the car behind (note the crossing):

Charging up behind me:

Here he goes:
Image

Yep, that's all lorry:
Image

I didn't realise how big it was (said the actress to the bishop) because I'd already dipped my mirror. I just assumed it was a shorty Ford Cargo or something because of the way he was throwing it about.

Until I saw how much lorry was coming past.

Sometimes I wish I had farmerpug's video editing capabilities :(

Now I can see that the first car on the other side pulled off the road, I just jammed the brakes on but as far as I'm aware all I had my side after the bridge is about 50cm of gravel, some grass and then a ditch.

My car is fine. He actually stopped before making contact with my bodywork, but my tow ball sure made a mess of his front end. (I think he must have bent something structural as it seemed to have pulled his wings in.)
I also suggested, quite mildly, that he have his ABS checked out as I definitely heard a tyre screech.

Glad your car's ok

Now that I'm even gladder about

I'm sure I heard once that the abs on some cars doesn't work under a certain speed. Still, here's hoping his repair bill is big enough to send the car over the bridge.

It would be worth looking at the boot floor for any signs of deformation, tow bars can do this, I hope not but it does kinda sound like a hard knock.
