Could this be whats causing my water leak? *pics*

Post by fattail95 »

Hi guys,

After noticing the car was steaming up a lot, I started investigating for water ingress issues. I removed the boot carpet to find at least 3l of water in the spare wheel well  , and the trail seemed to lead to the rear nearside (left) cluster area (I have the saloon). After removing both lights and replacing the seals, the issue was still ongoing with water starting to get back into the wheel well when it rained. I removed the boot side carpet to find this:

This is the grommet which sits below the light cluster and carries a few wires (presumably the number plate light wires?) out of the body. Anyway, the grommet was completely out and I assume that's where water has been getting in? Would I be correct in that assumption?

Thanks
Ben

Could be, although how does the water get in to reach the grommet...

There is a weak spot on the Saloons, between the rear lights and the bumper, there is a topic in the KB....

Looks to me that the wet area is to the right of that grommet on the floor....

Could it be coming through or down that seam between two panels?
