Hold on that's a Discovery. Caution: LR content

Post by Welly »

I had the pleasure* of seeing one of these 'ere new LR Disco's yesterday. Why have they made it look like the Evoque? talk about cashing in on the Evoque 'scene'

There's so many hideous looking creations masquerading as vehicles that this seems only mildly offensive.

Got a ways to go to rival the Ford Scorpion & Nissan Puke IMHO.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

It fills the gap between the Aldi TT and a Bini, aimed squarely at people with no taste, style, individuality or intention of going anywhere near dirt... I'm glad it says Discovery on the boot or I wouldn't have known what it was..

Something for the weekend sir?

Its not as nice as the older models, but to be fair if I was offered one I would probably* say yes

I think thats the new land rover discovery sport, its supposed to fill the gap where the freelander once sat, its not too bad looking when seen as a replacement for the freelander.

Makes you laugh when they call something so cumbersome 'Sport' the Rangey Sport is anything but that but then I guess the wannabe knobbers that drive them don't care.....being better* than everyone else on the planet that is.

I saw one of those on the motorway yesterday and couldn't quite decide what it's trying to be. Looks like the evoquesque "corporate nose" is alive and well right across the range, and the back could be anything. I certainly wouldn't want to take it offroading, would inevitably end in tears :(

My other half has recently bought a 12 plate SD4 HSE Freelander and to be honest not being a lover of the LR badge I am suitably impressed.Being the 190 bhp model it really does get up and go for something that is nearly 2000kg and it returns 35-40mpg.The Disco sport looks like a slightly inflated Evoque which I was never a fan of in the first place.
