whats it worth

Post by tyreburner »

hi
am only half thinking about selling my exec but was wondering whats it worth?? its a 1998 r plate with 130k no history unmarked leather, all the gadgets work, 4 previous owners, new centre section and custom back box, loads a scratches mot till end may tax till end may, tyres legal, pulls well starts first time, boost guage fitted and will have a manual boost controller this weekend hopefully, but will have one when sold!!
thinking of buying a mini bus as am a coach driver and have decided theres money to be made especially where i live where there is only 2 taxis and the nearest supermarket is 15 miles away!!!!!
so selling the exec would fund this and later on i would DEFINATLEY buy another one????

cheers
mick

P.s as i said i am only half thinking about it at the mo
there HAS to be a cheaper way!!!

I second Geordieboys evaluation. Sound about right.

If you do go to sell it. Give it a bloody good clean and wax it well. You'll be amazed how much extra cash a shiney car will bring.

Hate to say it, but I'd say the bottom end of that bracket. Especially with a modified exhaust and next to no MOT or service history.

It would be best to get it MOT'd and then it might go for £1k ish.

That's true. Just hope it doesn't need a lot of work. :?

i was suprised at that estimate (nicely suprised though)

as i was thinking about 600

cheers for the honesty guys i will have to think long and hard about it.. is it worth the sacrifice for a chance to be my own boss, as i love the car and things could go t*ts up and i could lose a lot o money..... something i aint keen on parting with :P

I'd say £1000 with tax and MOT if you can remove all traces of the boost gauge and if the exhaust tailpipe isn't oversized or in any other way "bling".

Fancy "performance" fittings devalue cars horribly at resale time. With a big exhaust and boost gauge I wouldn't buy it.
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

ah ..... but the boost guage is only there so i can keep a constant check on wether the car is running properly or not some cars have em fitted as standard :cheesy:
thats my story anyway and i am sticking to it!!!
but point taken!

Aye, I wouldn't mind fitting one to mine either - to help me keep *off* the ebil economy-destroying boost ;)

But as I say, the majority of people I think tend to look at modified cars as a really bad investment hence effectively devaluing them

It's a shame really because the 406 is a damn good car but is worth sod all second hand.

Great for the buyer, but sucks for the seller.
