Thats my tinking lol. I've been waiting 5 weeks now, and will be waiting another 2-4 weeks til i get my v5. ITs not my fault, i'd tax the car if i could, but the dvla wont let me!
I had to apply for a 'certificate of export' to get the 406 from england to northern ireland, and it takes the dvla weeks to fill in one form.
Didn't hear from the mate buying the car over the weekend, but I do know he's just had a death in the family that is more than fair enough
But the garage has to know this week what's happening and I can't supply the answers as I can't get in touch with my mate.
They've offered me £1150 as a part ex, which is pretty fair for my gti-6 so I'll be accepting the part ex offer if I don't hear from the original buyer.
So this weekend as long as the garage don't try and knock down the part ex price I WILL have a 406 HDi
Arghhh... Buying is easy, selling is always a pain in the arse

You could drive it home without a tax disc. I did when I bought mine, at least you intend to tax it when you get your documents through. I then bought a disc and back dated it a few days.
The DVLA system is well out of date anyway, and if you do get caught it is only a £60 fine at the most, and that is only if the officer has a special ticket book with him.
I am in no way promoting the use of a vehicle without valid VEL, as it would be an offence to do so.

Pris.
Yes, got the car, insurance certificate and MOT now so will be on my way to DVLA office in Bristol first thing tomorrow to get tax, a refund on my GTi-6 tax and send off the log books.
So should all be road legal tomorrow
Although I'm sure if I had been stopped with the receipt, logbook and insurance certificate most coppers would have let me go on my way
The worst thing about not having tax is the insurance could argue your car isn't road legal and therefore not insured if they wanted to
That reminds me, my tax expires while I'm abroad. Any ideas on how the heck I'm going to buy a new one when I won't have the cash for it until after I leave the country?
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Hmmmm....
Not sure, it's either tax or SORN or a fine
You'll get away with it for a couple of weeks I expect though.
