Belgian multistorey carparks

Post by mjb »

...just don't try! Honestly, they're not worth it!

I had to get my passengers to lean out the windows to yell when I was under an inch from the concrete on either side, then came the SCRAPE sounds as I went up/down the ramps. The front bumper is scratched to hell underneath, and my centre silencer is actually DENTED! Hate to think about how much life I've taken off the clutch, as I had to stop every floor to let it cool down...

It also pulled the centre section away from the cat downpipe, so after a quick I'm back to farting like a teenager's Corsa until I can get under it

Not 406 friendly at all

At least I got a tour of the Stella Artois brewery and lots of quality beer 8)

Proper Stella 8)

I suppose if you were fully laden your ride height was much less which didn't help.

How did the V6 do on the trip?

Not far off the stuff we get here in all honesty - just better served

No, and my rear end looks pretty low anyway. It was a nasty car park though. Just glad (for the first time ever) I didn't have an estate! I'd never have made it round the bends!

Oh, and watch out for the speed bumps at Calais coming back to the UK. Even with the handbrake on full and dragging the back wheels along I still bumped my back box on them :(

Admirably. I averaged 35mpg over 1000 miles travelling most of the way with the speedo on about 90mph, and that's with a fully laiden car, a fast (ohmygodwe'relate) trip over the tol, uh, autobahn , a 3hr traffic jam around Antwerp and an hour of idling with the aircon on to charge phone/camera batteries half way through the festival

Apart from the fact it's steering strongly to the right after the carpark I had no cause for concern with it at all. Other than the lack of boot space :P

406s really do make fantastic motorway warriors

The rear end of the 406 is soft as! Massive speed humps with people in the back seat = lets kill the exhaust time! *doh*

I always get passengers wondering why I drive at a "funny angle" to get over a large speed hump - especially when there are people in the back! You feel like a royal twat trying to explain it all!

As for the Stella - it better of been worth it! We only get the 330ml bottles here, some of it is brewed here but if you know the right bottle shops you can get the imported stuff for the same price as the locally brewed Stella - much much better! I wish we had the 500ml "chav" cans as they are called here - Instant street cred! :P

Apparently, it's kinder to your suspension if you tackle speed bumps at an angle.

Unfortunately I didn't have the room to take anything at an angle, otherwise I would have done :(
