Speaking of no insurance...
Friends brother went overseas for 6 months and told his brother that he could drive his 2.4 Manual V6 Audi A4 (Nice car!!!)...
Anyways, we needed to do some errands and the 406 didn't have enough petrol in it and he offered to drive. Drove all around Sydney and then on the final stretch home we noticed that there was a police car following us for a while. If we changed lanes, he would change lanes with us!
A couple more KM down the road we have noticed that he threw on the disco lights and pulls us over. Kept us waiting in the car for 5 minutes until another cop car rocked up and they all got out. I was kinda worried that the car was dodgy or something like that - maybe it was something his brother had done, thats why they pulled us over?
Police officer comes over to the car and tells my mate "Did you know your car is 3 months out of registration and insurance"....."Oh Sh*t"...
So the police then proceeded to write my mate out a $1000 AUD fine, unscrewed the numberplates off the car and make us call a tow truck. The police officer was a nice bloke though, we tried telling him that he only had to drive down the road and that he would get it sorted but the police officer wouldn't let him because there is now a record of him being pulled over and if an accident did occur without registration and insurance - he would be liable which is fair enough!
So whats the moral of the story - make sure that the car has a valid registration label before your brother goes overseas!
