Sneaky fuel price rises

Post by Welly »

Petrol and Diesel is going up 2p a litre today - this was apparently announced last November so we've all forgotten about it but guess what's coming up on 21st? April? - the Budget! that's right, so expect another few pence then

Edmund King was saying on Radio 2 last night that the Government receives something like 80 Billion pounds a year from UK motorists yet only 9 Billion goes back into road infrustructures

Looks like our current 89p a litre days are over.....

its about 89c over here at the mo. Still a far cry from 1.49c last summer. In our emergency budget this month, we're expected to see a 10c increase in all fuel. That is in addition to the 7c increase to petrol last christmas in the main budget. Recession eh?

I would love to know where this 9 billion is being spent. Ive just driven back to my town (Scarborough) via the A64 which is probably the most important road in my area. It connects my town to the motorway network/rest of the country and it is an absolute disgrace. The top layer of the surface has all just about gone, honestly iv driven on smoother farm tracks. But im guessing that they will be thinking of resurfacing it come the holiday season

Actually i did see some work going on as i sat at some temporary lights, they where making the footpath wider  who the f*ck is going to walk to York

Oh and the local garages round here are mostly owned by one company and they stuffed 2p on the price two weeks ago and then today guess what, yep

End of rant, having a bad un.

Actually the bad snow and ice we had in February has really knackered the roads I noticed and there there seems to be a whole lot more loose stuff flying around :frown:

Stone chips anyone?

You're not kidding, even roads that were re-laid a couple of years ago are breaking up, the council's solution is to drop a dollop of tarmac in the holes which will last 5 minutes :x
Sod the stone chips, it's lethal riding my bike in the dark if you can't see the holes in time!
I reckon it was the newbie snow plough drivers gouging loads of holes in the roads because the scoop was too low :x

Not in bloody Southampton, that's for sure. I can drive over speed bumps faster than some of the normal roads around here.

On the plus side, when Mrs Swiss wears a low cut top the bouncing about doesn't seem so bad :)

There's some roads up in Oldham I had to drive on once. If you lost momentum you'd be right stuck without 4wd or a locked diff they were that bad. I ended up taking the road as fast as I could to keep the car from falling into the potholes too much. Knackered my elbow keeping the estate's steering wheel straight though
