Been offered a coupe, but how much is it worth?

Post by nutski »

Just after a little general advice, been offered a R reg coupe, 3.0 V6, not the SE so it has manual cloth seats, front and rear bumpers are cracked and would need to be repaired/replaced, one rear quarter is a scuffed, also sounds like the back box is blowing, engine starts fine after standing for 3 months, but i'm not sure what it would be worth, would have full 12 month MOT but no tax.

Not seen many V6 coupes about which are not the SE so would anyone in the know like to point me in the right direction? :?:

I only know as much as you but I'll have a stab. In Autotarder they start at about 900 quid for a t&ted goer, up to two grand for a minter (plus some silly money at some hopeful, make that greedy, dealers), so I reckon you're looking at well under a grand for a bumper car. I wouldn't sweat the lack of options either, it is 12 years old...

I would say about a grand or under,
rear bumpers are about £100(s/h)
its the front ones are loadsa money,
cam belt is due at 80.000 or 10 years (any proof its done?)
if not looking at about £400. (w,pump & tentioners too in there)
on a good note the coupe is a lovely motor, and a strong one,
even better with a v6,194bhp the fuel aint too bad,
the zorst is about £250 (cat back) tho loads of 2nd hand ones about,
oh if its cloth its just an 'S'
thats no biggie as means no cruse, headlight wash, leather, auto tint rearveiw mirror,
thats all i can think of at the mo,
oh, leather is easy to fit, on mine n/s was plug and play the o/s i had to rejig the seat
switch on the seat and lose the memory funtion, (under £200)
the 406 coupe is a classic in my veiw, and looks fantastic, only 11.000 or so were made,
built by Pinnnfrina, only things let it down are the dash, (same as saloon) & front wheel drive,
other than that i cant fualt it, if the price is right go for it, :) and smile from ear to ear
when you put ya foot down and get that great v6 feeling, (its not a sports car more a tourer)
good luck with your choice, :)
If only you knew that i know that you knew that i know.

Depends on a dash. All singing and dancing ones are fairly good. D8 dashes are quite boring actually, but D9's are much better as it's more colourful on the dials. My only gripe is the backlight colour. I prefer VW blue over PSA orange.

Difficult to price the coupe because people WILL pay way over the odds for a good'un yet a sligtly scruffy one will probably fall this side of a Grand.

I have a basic enough D9 dash. I would like to have one of the dashes and dial setup from the executive D9 with the black glovebox and spray the wooden trim to the metal look color ala himbigchief

The JBL system is available on all D8 models i believe.

The folders only came in for the late D9's

Considering Pininfarina were apparently belting out something like 15,000/year for around 6 years, including the 1200 limited edition "Settant'Anni" models only made in October 2000...

If you mean folding mirrors, they were in early D9s and I think they were an option on D8s
