Adding links and photographs

Post by Wrinkly57 »

Can anyone tell me how to add links to a post and photographs too. Thought I could add some pictures of my
escapades with replacing springs and top mount thrust bearings that might help others.

I think the way most people learn is to copy someone else's post which has an example of what you want.

If you click QUOTE on that post, you will see how the links are entered.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Thanks for the info dogslife but still don't understand how to do it. I need an idiots guide starting at No 1 ie "Turn on computer" with very explicit instructions thereafter. I do live in rural Lincolnshire and don't get out much these days because car often needs repair.

OK, well I did this bit above :arrowu: :arrowu: by clicking the 'Quote' button at the top right of your post. And if you're wondering, the up arrows were added by clicking on the little round icons known as 'smilies' to the right of the post composition box :)

As for adding images, the easiest thing to do is use the attachment feature here. Below the white box where you compose your posts, you'll see a tab for Options and another for Upload attachment. Click browse to locate the file you want on your hard drive, then click Add the file. It will appear automatically below your post.

The problem with this is it will only hang around for a while. For more permanent image posts, try www.photobucket.com. Register and account, start uploading your photos. In the resulting album each picture will have four links below it, one of which is UBB forum code (which we use here). Simply copy and paste this in to your post (it will look something like ).

Failing that, Google for UBB code, there are many sites for folks like yourself who need a crash-course.

Many thanks Swiss, concisely explained and very understandable! Going to give it a go when I have collected all my pictures
for all to see. They are not much to look at , but do show some interesting features (I think) of this tiresome repair that we all must face at some time or another! Will post details in Engine and Mechanical forum.
Thanks again,posting.php?mode=reply&f=5&t=7197&sid=6 ... 97e15d8ee4#
