I work for an electrical wholesalers and can indeed confirm all candescent lamps will be fazed out by 2011 you can however get halogen style bulb which are exactly the same as the condescent bulbs but have a halogen lamp built inside instead. i must admit the flourescent style bulbs are not very good at the moment but they are improving they also do dimmable versions of these. Also if you look around you will find decent led versions or the gu10's that are a pure white. The standard candescent bulbs will be available until stocks have gone so get out there and stock up if you prefer these

It's funny but I can almost imagine in the future some 'bulb dealers' on the streets meeting up with punters in a darkened alley, exchanging bank notes for 100 watt bayonet bulbs, then skulking off like some dirty little secret

Ooh, ooh...has anyone else heard that the EU might be moving onto Halogens next  i.e. all those recessed GU10's etc :o

"Got any bayonets man?"

"How many do you need?"

"As much as you've got!"

"Steady mate, these are quality man! One will light up your life man!"

"I'll take 2!, how much!"

"My man round the corner will set you up" *holds 2 fingers in the air*
