HELP - discovering 406 date of manufacture

Post by PUGnacious »

Hi folks.

I’m new here but have had and loved six Pugs … including an R plate 2.1 GLX estate (230K miles on original clutch – turbo bearings weeping oil so replaced and clutch changed unnecessarily as plenty of meat on original (soft left foot :D ). Then an X plate LX 110 TD estate going strong at 175K miles when the wife fancied a change …. sad day. High mileage Jag X Type 2.0 TD estate is OK but short of so much that’s standard on the 406 unless you pay big bucks for high spec. But I digress.

Got my sights on an 02/02 110 Executive estate registered late 2002. Parkers only shows up to 01/Y in the book but gives up to 04 online for valuation.

Have Googled to discover manufacturing info, but according to http://www.aussiefrogs.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57922 down under - the VIN plate gives no clue but refers to a DAM or ORGA number. The data sites given are French and Alta Vista Babel Fish isn’t translating them.

So ….. can any Good Samaritan say how to find out the date of manufacture of a 406? I’m just curious to know if it sat in a field for a long time before registration or was factory fresh at time of purchase.

I did a quick trawl through previous posts but failed to find anything.

Happy daze, Brian

Servicebox (free registration required) will tell you - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com

Put in the VIN then choose 'characteristics'
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
