307 help
Hi Guys,
My girlfriend is looking at changing her car and getting a 307 HDi. We looked at one last night, it was a 2002 2.0 HDi D Turbo but it was a bit weird. The Durbo was only supposed to be released as 110 bhp but there was no intercooler pipe from the turbo to the front of the engine bay and there was no intercooler that I could see; only 2 radiators and no intercooler to the side. Does this seem odd to anyone, or did they get 110 bhp without an intercooler?
Cheers for any help

Re: 307 help
Its probably a 90BHP HDI non intercooled, theres loads of them about in the 307
The other option is that the owner has has a it chipped to make it 110BHP, you need to look at the V5 to find out what engine it has (or should have!), best to check the engine serial number against the log book as well maybe ?

Re: 307 help
Pug also did a 2.0 136 bhp HDi in the 307 but i think that was badged XSI. Pretty sure that will have an intercooler too.

Re: 307 help
The 136bhp engine in the 307 is the 'next generation' BTED technology that supposedly fixed a lot of the faults in the ATED original HDI engine, they also refined and improved the power of the engine at the same time (which is why its 136BHP instead of 110BHP) i think they are 2003 model year onwards only, so an 02 couldnt be 136bhp
Re: 307 help
T5's were offered with the HDI 90 or the HDI 110 - These were the old gen engines.
T6's were offered with a 1.6 80kw and 2.0 100kw diesel - mated to a 5 speed manual or 6 speed auto (not the 1.6)

Re: 307 help
Hi,
The reg plate is registered to a DTurbo according to numerous insurance websites, there is no mention of a 90 bhp DTurbo anywhere on the web. The guy gave us the chassis number and I popped to the Peugeot garage in Wakefield. The guy confirmed that not all 110 engines have intercoolers. Is it possible that the normal 110 is an improved 90 engine, but in the DTurbo it is a detuned 136?

Re: 307 help
All the 2 litre 110s were DW10ATEDs, which were intercooled. The 90s were DW10TDs, and were not. As aforementioned, the 136 (XSi or rarer SE) is visibly very different indeed, not least of which being 16v. I'd phone pug with the chassis number and ask them what the car was when it was built, but the V5 should say HDi(90) or HDi(110) as well.
Do you have a pic of the engine bay? Some easy ways to distinguish between 90 and 110.
PS, it seems a Dturbo was availble with a 90 for 2002/03 at least, and a Dturbo 90 SW that had different interior trim and made do with 15" alloys. I've found a few ads, unless they're all fake with Dturbo badges maybe?

Re: 307 help
If you have got the chassis number, it will tell you the engine type, there are 3 letters in the middle of the chassis number something like RHY or RHW or similar, let us know what they are and i can tell you what engine you have in it and the bhp it should be
Re: 307 help
that's assuming it's still on the original engine.

True, if its not on its original engine, and someone has fitted a different type of engine, i would stay well away from it unless you know what you are doing, you will have all sorts of problems with incorrect parts supplied for it in the future
at least with the chassis number digits we can tell if it has the correct type of engine though
Re: 307 help
the chassis number is vf33cryhb 82646476. I reckon it's the probably the 90 but couldnt find any reference to a 90 break DTurbo anywhere. She isnt bothered about the power, its in fantastic nick though.

Re: 307 help
RHY is the code in your VIN (you've mixed up 2 of the letters in it), and that means the car is a 90BHP non intercooled HDI turbo diesel engine, so its not 110BHP and there shouldnt be an intercooler, sorted !!
