Re: Bloody Insurance

Re: Bloody Insurance
They certainly used to get very cheap road tax, so they could hold up masses of traffic in a really cost effective manner.
Having followed more than a few, I propose a more appropriate rate of duty, say £10k for 6 months,
plus £50 a mile on normal roads and £500 / metre on the A14, where the mayhem they cause has to be seen to be believed.

Re: Bloody Insurance
when i drive a tractor i make sure and pull in motorists even wave in thanks at this.
but i loathe tractor drivers who sit on the road with a hard shoulder available and dont use it thats what its there for.

Re: Bloody Insurance
Theres a nice bit of national road between Bridgend and Measteg (the prettier half lives in Measteg).
It's about 2 mile long usually known as the 'Paper mills road'.
If you get stuck behind a knob doing 30-40mph the road goes on forever.
If your doing 50-60mph it's a nice drive.
But when you get a tractor doing 20mph up there (theres a few hard shoulders, none of them pull over) you might aswell commit scuicide!

Re: Bloody Insurance
Sounds a bit like the Salisbury to Ringwood road. When empty it can be covered in less than 15mins, stuck behind an HGV & it takes well over half hour.
When I used to do a Dorset multidrop in a Sprinter I used to leave early to make sure I was past Downton before 6am when all the 3663 lot started work!

Re: Bloody Insurance
At what point does the No Claims Discount, and age increase, stop causing insurance prices to fall and start to increase?
25 with ~ 5 years NCB?
I remember reading about someone once who had a 406 coupe (or possibly the MR2) Ferrari-style kit-car. Because it was registered as a kit car, the insurance was dirt cheap!

Re: Bloody Insurance
what about classic insurance, my uncle has an old 505 sitting in the shed for about 22 years now, id like to get it going, would the insurance be cheap on something like an old 1983 505 diesel
Re: Bloody Insurance
Probably. I mean it's not exactly a chav's weapon of choice that.FarmerPug wrote:what about classic insurance, my uncle has an old 505 sitting in the shed for about 22 years now, id like to get it going, would the insurance be cheap on something like an old 1983 505 diesel

Re: Bloody Insurance
the 406 isnt either but yet costs me over a grand
its the high insurance that keeps the d-turbo ruining chavs away from the 406.
from what i understand about this 505 it was bought new by my uncle, his son crashed the back of it into a fence, a new door and bumper by the looks of it, and to keep it good he parked it in the shed and its been there surrounded by 20 years of clutter and a porsche 924. But it could be fixed up without insurance claims.
What sort of price difference is there on classic insurance, and what age does it have to be to get it?
