arnt pug engines slanted, never seen anything in a ford resembling a pug engine
or am ithinking of a diferent era of engines,
Thats the engine mounts and not the engine causing that though. Ford could quite easilly straighten it back up again
The only Peugeot engines that are slanted are the XU's though, simply because they are quite a chunky and long lump.

Also what about the Land Rover 2.7 V6 TD, Jaguar 2.7 V6 TD etc
There the same 2.7 you could get in the 407! Again a peugeot lump.

i had a sierra with the 2.3 engine absolute ball of dung of a car, it always had trouble starting, it hadnt really enough power to be fun either, it tried to drift but never did it right. Then it blew the head gasket.
the 2.7 hdi has been replaced with a 3.0 engine i think but they are still a nice smooth engine.
I kind of agree about some diesels sounding better, an old mercedes 300d sounds fantastic, but i dont really think a diesel will ever sound as good as the old straight 6 from an m3, or alfas v6, or the v8 in a vauxhall monaro.
ldv also used the 1.9 xud in the pilot van but i was sort of put off putting one in my jeep when hearing they usually suffered h/g failure whatever way ldv rigged up the cooling
Saw a previous shape UK Import TDI Passat this morning - looked pretty decent (still had its 07 tax disc on the front window!) - Twas a 130bhp model! Exciting for us, boring for you
We never got the TDI here in the gen you are talking about...
Hi Joel, I see they know how to build Ferris wheels where you are (unlike the French...)
Any particular reason they stopped importing them d'ya reckon?
I finally caught up with my buddies that run the auto servis Friday and remembered to ask them about the 4-motion ambulance they maintain for the local health center-come-casualty clinic. It's got the engine and running gear from a Passat VR6 4-motion, just with a slightly different 'box. It does a fair few miles and regularly has transmission failures, the most recent being a drive shaft, which needed special tools to change and the replacement cost about 600 quid. I rather get the impression that out of all the ambulances, which are all different makes, that this one is the most troublesome & it'd be a cold day in hell before any of them owned anything with this transmission in it.
At least it didn't catch on fire & burn out like the Ducato did (BSI failure...)
It won't be a 4motion then, it will be the Syncro.
Four wheel drive, 2.8 V6 yada yada yada
The 1.9TDi uses the running gear from the 2.5TDi Quattro so can obviously handle the power.
But I keep seeing an SE interior and thinking it's one hell of a nice interior!
Jesus theres only 2 SE 110's on autotrader at the moment, they both aint in great shape either
I can see me having to settle with a 407 1.6HDi X-Line now

Keep the Focus, it'll probably last longer and save you getting RSI from the gearlever.
I get testicle pain because the Focus is so fecking uncomftorble

Maybe you're right but I was sure it had a "4-motion" badge on it last time I saw it on the ramp Maybe it doesn't mean one particular system and it's VAG's version of a 4x4 badge.

There was a 2.2 SE on Ebay a couple of days ago. But if you're that hypnotized by the interior, you should have taken a closer look at my seats in Gaydon - believe me, they may look good at a distance, but the centre bit is actually sh*te.

Whats up with the centres?
I can always get them retrimmed.
But at the moment I'm looking more towards the 1.6 HDi 407. The X-Line dosen't have a DPF either. But still no leather

They never imported many diesel passenger cars here, as diesel has always been considerably more expensive than petrol due to our tax structures and fuel excise. Now due to the rise in fuel costs - 50% of Golf's sold here are diesels, and they are one of the top 10 cars on the Australian market!
Bailes - Don't get a 407. Life is too short to drive crap cars!
