whats great about buying old stuff with a plug attached at car boot sales is that it normally doesnt work. Although i did once get a good vcr machine for £5 and it still works, just needed a plug.

It's actually £3.75

What I don't understand is why did such an obviously wonderful, well built car already need a new engine :?

the car is so well built there is electronics in the car that have feelings and the engine felt embarrassed to be in such a well built car because it had not been well built enough so it sacrificed itself so a better built engine could take its place in the well made 407.

This is 17 miles away from me & the same colour as mine, so VERY interested.

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p

Edit: But judging by how engaged his phone seems to have been this afternoon, probably sold within a few hours...

Another Edit: Ad went on less than an hour ago & I was the 3rd phone call about it. If not sold already, I'll be visiting tomorrow morning. Been used as a 2nd car mostly as he has a sports car. Although the ad says nothing needs doing, he did confess to having had FUEL FILTER BLOCKED message appear twice in past couple of years. Apparently the Peugeot dealer told him it was a common fault & did nothing though? Said his brother is a Volvo mechanic & he did most of the servicing.

If it is as clean as the photos look though, it'll be a more than suitable replacement for me as it will combine the extra power with the 7 seat capability if I swap my extra seats over. Not sure if I'd actually bother with putting the SE interior in or not though.

Any opinions or is everybody getting pi**ed off with me now?

I'd get it, swap over your SE interior, alloy wheels, and other nice personal touches you've added to your current car, then sell your own car on for as much as you can get for it.

DeFAP, remap, and enjoy.
2002 (D9) Peugeot 406 Coupe SE, 2.2 litre Petrol. Scarlet Red/Rouge Ecarlate/Rosso Scarlatto. Black Leather interior. SOLD :(
2008 (E60 LCI) BMW 525i M-Sport, 3.0 litre Petrol. Carbonschwarz Metallic. Black Dakota Leather and Myrtlewood interior.

I'm a bit late into this one, but if it were me, I wouldn't faff about waiting for the morrow.

If you really can't get there, try to morally blackmail him into holding onto it.....

And who knows - if you're a good boy, Uncle Disco might add the rest of your car to his sig?

(Notice Stu's got better things to do than loiter around here). Fingers crossed chaps.

Been at work since 4:30pm so there was no way of getting down tonight. He said to ring first, but if not sold already I can go down after I drop the little man at nursery in the morning. My main concern on this one is not to be too dazzled by the extra power & end up buying something else that may cost me another £1000 in maintenance if it's due for the cambelt, clutch etc.

Not too sure about swapping the SE interior over as I don't really fancy doing the lower half of the dash again as the passenger side is a right pain to do, although the fact that the GTX has electric seats in already would help the seat swap.

Incidentally, if anybody is interested, I had the tape measure out when I tested the C5 Saturday - the seats will fit a 406 estate. Ordinarily it wouldn't be an obvious mod, but C5 seats are comfy AND the rear seats in a C% have a centre armrest which the 406 estate does not have.

Well, looks like I've missed that one. Phoned before I took Jack to nursery & although the car technically hasn't been sold yet, there was someone travelling a fair distance to see it (with cash) due to arrive at 11am. Told him I'd ring back at 12, but somebody driving that distance will most likely buy it, & if they didn't, that would indicate that it wasn't that good.

If this had been my week of 10pm starts (which it is going to be for the 2 weeks after this) I could have gone before work. Pretty much sums up my luck with cars really...
