Of all the cars sitting there id reckon the ones with the best chance of being back on the road is the ax and the 405, the ax is dented on the passenger door but its still going well and the 405 is driving ok as well there is just some problem with the back axle, the merc is another mot failure, a 300d with over 400,000 miles its got a few spots of rust, the front grille is wrecked, the suspension is not right, and its manual merc which doesnt sound right, and the gearbox feels like its sitting in playdough, but the engine sounds like new.

the polo is definatley dead, it was dead when it was alive because its an SDI, its been badly hit on the passenger side the hole passenger cell is ruined its just for parts because my uncle has one on the road. And the 405 is the nicest car there with the best chance of going and it has an amazing feature of both manual and electric windows. As for the maestro its definatley factory fresh BL style

Hubba hubba :cheesy: We went shopping just now and look what I saw when we came out:
Image

A 1955 Traction Avant   Apparently this one goes all over Europe and is right now on it's way to Vienna. I asked the owner if he was confident and he said "of course! I did all the work myself". Apparently it took 14 years to rebuild it and cost, well, he wouldn't comment  I said it was expensive enough to keep a fairly modern French car going, never mind one you have to make the parts for yourself...

What's this then? 8)

Says it all really. It gets 10-11l/100km (28.25 - 25.7mpg) normal driving and 14l/100km ( 20.2 mpg) on the motorway. You'd think it'd do better than that, being fwd and monocoque but then it's old technology. It's also much bigger in person than you'd expect.

Well, that's me set up for the rest of the day 8)

Nice find, top marks :D

That's cool and to get it restored with all that motoring history behind it is great.

Does look kinda menacing doesn't it!

I love it :D and hate it

Truly beautiful example of it's kind and a good example of Citreon daring to be different. :D

I'm not sure whether to blame this design, or the Sierra for condemning the world to the curse of fwd.

(Mind you I'm not certain on all the claims for originality of the design, my dad, god rest his soul, always said, 'there's nothing new under the sun' - meaning almost every new development the motor industry churned out was a rework of earlier ideas. An example being the original mini - he stated there was a pre-war taxi cab design with transverse engine/fwd).
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

[useless fact] did you know that each Mini leaving the original production line did so at a £30.00 loss due to an accounting blunder   [/useless fact].

The traction avant is a beaty, they are supposed to be built like a tank. Though i prefer the DS series 2 with the swivilley headlights, its when citroen really did go to town on reinventing stuff
