Well now boys and girls, here's a potentially cheap entry ticket to the 2.2 exec estate club. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2001-PEUGEOT- ... 3cceb278cd

Got a few issues, but none I'd loose any sleep over and I'm betting it won't fetch much.

(No use to me - I'd have to find someone tall to drive it home).
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

That's gonna go cheap and someone in the know will get a bargain

Almost tempted myself as a summer project, if only I knew someone who could assist with the various 'issues' :P

It's funny, in a way, reading the sellers description; "the dpf light is on".....and ....."probably just needs some fluid" :| sounds like they know very well what the car needs and it's gonna cost. Of course some of the issues can be worked around very cheaply :supafrisk:

These 2.2's make the perfect bargain once they start playing up. Knowledgeable buyers like Doggy are nothing short of Dick Turpin in casual wear  to be fair, knowing what I know now about modern diesels, the HDi is probably the most 'simple' modern diesel there is.

I wouldn't mind the colour if it means I wouldn't have to clean it so much...

Are exhaust gasket problems common on the 2.2? viewtopic.php?f=17&t=19576&p=194703&hil ... et#p194703 Or is it... nah, wrong year.

TBH I think the colour's OK, (no worse than my grandad green example).

This ad disappeared, 'by accident', then got relisted without some Q&A's which suggested he'd take about £700 for it, IIRC.

Had a bit of dig into the advanced search options and found this -> http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peugeot-406-E ... 1058874339

Which has the question and answer

Code: Select all

Q: Hi i,m looking for a good 406 at present, cutting to the chase just how many beer tokens wouldd it take to drive this one away, i,m sure you understand, just trying to save you a few bob, best regards Les
A: Hi Les Open to offers above start price, already had a few offers. it is on the street for £700. Ian
Remember - it only takes a few inches of water to drown a 406 don't make the same mistake I made! The V6 Exec is no more.
