Hi there, just out of interest I thought maybe I'd sling on an update on how the UKTV thing's going.

Free proxy servers = free poxy servers, every time I want to watch anything I have to find one that's actually up and not too busy and even then the transfers can drop off. Still, you gets what yous pays for I guess :cheesy: I suppose I could pay for a better one but it doesn't seem worth it at this rate:

BBC iPlayer - no problems. Well, one problem - I've been out of the country for 6 years and I've no idea what anything is anymore! Although I have been watching Rab C. Nesbitt which the wife loves, even if she does need the subtitles (now I've realised it has them  )

ITV player - adverts, adverts and more adverts. I thought Nova here were bad (in one break I counted 24 adverts, enough to let you forget what you were watching!) but ITV seem to have a break of 5 every ten minutes. I watched The Sweeney the other day (bit of nostalgia) but between the (advertisement) server going slow (advertisement) and the (advertisement) ad... (hold on a mo while I change servers... dobee dobee dobee dum de doobee... no....no.... aha!) between the server going slow and the adverts, it was pretty much (advertisement :x ) unwatchable. There's no subtitles either.

4oD & Ketchup TV - They still know :( 4oD just says there's a problem but %$&? puts a message up "Access Denied (NON UK)", this being after they've shown the poxy adverts    I did find a utility for Firefox but it consumed enormous amounts of my poor old pc's resources (6 years old, XP sp3, P4 2.4 gigs, 3 gig of ram), the cpu was running full tilt constantly and things were getting a bit warm. As a consequence the player was jerky as hell and anyway I ended up uninstalling it because it conflicted with one of my P2P programs :(

Sooo, it's a new toy but not very useful. Ah well, at least I didn't need to build a 10 foot satellite dish... :supafrisk:

As you say wiggy, you gets what you pay for :)

I think i will be investing in a UK based VPN connection to give me my UK ip address, but we will see, my big concern is that i wont be able to get a quick enough connection out there (Poland) or an uncapped one that wont cost me a fortune, I will just have to wait and see.

I have asked the wife to ask her mother what speed she is getting on her connection but I may as well be asking the pair of em about Quantum Physics and its use in today's society now that communism is on the wane.

Still only 2 weeks to go and i will be able to check myself, glad you are enjoying what you can get for free wiggy, and you say you havent seen much for 6 years, well youve not missed much bud
