Dynamics, pish. If it's raining like a bugger (i.e. you might as well be in a boat given the amount of water around), then there's going to be a lot of rainwater constantly pouring over the rear window.

This is particularly true in and around town, when you most need to be able to see out the rear window. Especially reversing, but also during normal maneuvering - no point checking that rear view mirror before you signal to turn, if you can't see out the rear window.

Hair-dryer is good for removing vinyl without removing the paint too. Plus if it's a hot day, the side facing the sun has a head start. You shouldn't need a scraper, just a bit of meths, rags and fingernails to remove the sticky.

Be aware you may end up with a noticeable line where the freshly-uncovered paint meets the weather-beaten paint...

I did think of the miss match in paint but I hope it won't be too noticeable with the car being silver

Managed to get all the vinyl off of mine now - no hairdryer required at all. The only one that was a pain in the a**e was the rear pillars of the rear doors as the rubber around the triangular window doesn't move enough to get the edge of the vinyl off, but with some careful use of a stanley knife you can still get a neat finish.

Not 100% sure which way looks better though, but it's better off than on at the moment because the drivers door vinyl was getting crinkly & looked untidy.

If you want yours done, make this Midlands meet a bit further South & not on a Sunday (have to work Sunday evenings) & I'll show you how it's done!
