Mine's like this one:

There's only one button (the other thing is a blank, I had assumed for a boot lid popper on the highest trim-level 406s).

The single button is used to lock / unlock.

2008 (E60 LCI) BMW 525i M-Sport, 3.0 litre Petrol. Carbonschwarz Metallic. Black Dakota Leather and Myrtlewood interior.

If I "double click" the lock button, it seems to do something else, which I assume is deadlock.

This is now the preferred method until I move out of crime ridden Belfast.

Somewhere in the depths of my memory there's a fact trying to get out! I think it's that the D9 deadlocks on the first click of the button, and the 2nd click deactivates the deadlocks.

The answer is to go and sit in the car then lock it and try to get out..... never mind I just did it myself  , 1st press = deadlocked, 2nd press = locked without deadlocks  :D

Bugger!! Bad luck Wiggy.

Im of the opinion you probably left it unlocked,

im so paranoid about this i always get out, lock, walk 10 paces and have to check again

Still if its a local scum bag at least he will know you are now a member of the "once bitten twice shy" club, and hopefully leave your motor alone for a while.

About the strategic knock on the boot, my cars service history log has some nicely worded waffly letter from peugeot about it being recalled because peugeot detected that it was possible to break into the boot too easily, now I can look for the letter and quote it directly but i know for definite the previous owner had the car in for a recall to put some plate in the boot lid to stop the possibility of break ins.

Thanks all.

I wasn't sure how the deadlocks worked. Wont be "double clicking" the locks then if it un-deadlocks.

The manual wasn't much use - basically this page

http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com/dd ... 1-2002.pdf

I must have left it unlocked, no signs of breakin, the locks did not make their unlocking sound. Initially I thought the battery was flat, but saw the indicators flash on pressing.

The boot thing I'm not sure if mine was affected or cured.
Don't have a lot in the boot apart from an extendable wheel brace and an ancient VCR. More worried about them getting in via the boot.

Definitely once bitten twice shy regarding making sure the doors are locked, and since the car was parked right outside the house, making sure all windows are closed and the house doors locked and secured.

Could've been worse, no busted locks / broken windows, but I needed that sat nav to navigate me through England later in the week, and the iPod had all my cheesy tunes on!
