Re: Forget the Germans
Its the mazda 6 im thinking of that had the awd system. I like both XK, and XJs but my favourite it the pre 2003 XJ because i just think its a bit sleeker looking than the facelifted model.

The X type is a nice car. Severely tempted myself if I had the cash.

Re: Forget the Germans
Rover 75 isn't too bad.
Except for the K series engines.
And that OCD-like annoyance that the manufacturer no longer continued the line. The same strange niggling that would prevent me getting a Nissan Primera.

Re: Forget the Germans
the blob nissan primera? with the reversing camera? my dad has one (low spec with no camera) and it gives him no mechanical troubles, but the seats are horrid, whatever way they work they put me in a position that i feel sick, and the steering is too light for such a big car making it hard to get a feel for the road.

No, no, no. This is a JAAAG:

But for every day use and ~18k miles per year I need something reliable, comfortable, and economical: like a 406

Re: Forget the Germans

Ok that jag, well it would definatley be good looking, probably sounds good, i know nothing of its speed but its back wheel drive so probably a driver orientated machine, but yet probably still very comfortable all quite like the 406. Now though its probably BL and its an 80s jag so not really reliable, and as for fuel economy the typical jaag driver lights his cigar with a £50 note.
Thats why an early noughties xjr wouldnt be so bad, its a more reliable motor, and probably more economical with its fuel injection stuff, slap an lpg kit in and you might get 40mpg, but you will get 0-60 in about 5 seconds which will mean a big wide grin.
