Turn choke on, push primer 5 times, pull cord, if it fires turn the choke off & pull again, leaving the throttle alone so it's on fast idle. Works on my Husqvarner anyway.

My Dad's about as practical as a chocolate fire guard  I learnt my house DIY from my second Dad (long story) but I'm not so hot with car mechanics (don't really have the kit).

Disco - you might wanna get to the dentist and have him polish out that glue from the teeth?

This is my dad's workshop when he was in Sussex:

I will never be as clever with my hands as my pa is, the shame is he now has terrible arthritis in them (although it's not slowing him down much...)

Indeed there is (on the left there is a Myford Super 7, about £3.5 grand's worth), which is why I need to get the importing stuff sorted (my brother doesn't want any of it). I still didn't get far with that, I've now asked for a list of stuff so I can work out how much the duty will be, then decide what it's worth importing and then work out if I need a trailer, a van, a lorry or a container...

You know what really sticks in my craw? Stuff like that Matchless, having spent 100s of hours and a small fortune to get it nice, it means that I'll be paying a hell of a lot more duty on it than if I'd left it as a basket case  Perhaps I should get some of that spray-on mud...

Imprisonment 'too harsh' for British man says family

A British man found crossing the Croatian border with a self-drive lorry filled to the top with tools, equipment and exotic motorcycles was sent to prison yesterday for 8 years for evasion of import duty. Steve Earwig (a former BT storesman) entered the country under the cover of darkness wearing a fake beard and glasses to avoid detection. When Police officials uncovered his stash of goods Mr Earwig was heard shouting "No no, not the Matchless, please no". It is thought that the goods will be auctioned at a later date.

Yeah you could actually buy yourself a cheapie transit with a high roof in england, load it up and bring it home and youve got yourself a van, so you can bring home a bit of england with you (ie the sound of the ford tranist engine revving its nuts off despiratley asking for you to change up.)

I did that when I first came here! I was meant to go back with it the next year but then I was told all this bollocks about not being able to import anything until I had residence, so it just sat around with no MOT or anything and I ended up selling it for peanuts
DiscoPol wrote:dunno about the state ones, i have private medical insurance and they are just as swish and fancy as the ones back in blighty, in fact we get a lot of private patients coming out here from the uk for stuff like M.S treatments and disability stuff as its cheaper for them to go private here in the top hospitals than get treated in the NHS ones back over there, it depends on their consultant and how quick they want treating etc etc.
I was trying to get my pa out here for his second hip (h)op, ok the hostables are sprawling big messes but I have far more confidence in their abilities (e.g. my NHS quacks never once mentioned that there's now meds for migraines). He ended up paying for it (after a lot of persuading I might add) and even that would have been far cheaper here. Oh, and they don't keep people waiting for years in the hope they'll die first
