Ah, but being more mature I know where to drive fast and where not to (like in the town centre FFS  ).

I reckon the ST use most of there fuel rushing between the red traffic lights

The ST is mapped differently though. The Volvo has enough low down grunt to give you whiplash between 1500 and 3k, yet the ST loves to be revved? The Volvo's limiter is 6400rpm where the ST will go on for another 1000rpm.

But the Focus' are good cars - I've driven my fair share of them and for driver involvement, they are much better than anything else comparable (excluding a 306)...

Oh and get your suspension fixed you lazy sod!
I keep meaning to do it but I need to get a small two armed puller to get the joint out of the hub. I keep forgetting to pick one up :|

You don't need a puller to get the ball joint out, just whack the side where the ball joint fits with a 2lb hammer and it will jump out.
I never ever use a puller.

driving economically is something i tried yesterday, i filled the car until diesel went around my shoes, then i drove nice and easy out of the filling station, got bored and give the car the beans again, the fuel economy has taken a definite hit in this cold weather, but still im only doing at max 10 miles a day so a tank can last me about a month. Back when it was on the motorway and again i only started to realise 70 was the maximum speed and not the guideline for what i had to be at did i see the economy go up.
Still though i was speaking to a man who gets 7mpg from his diesel car, its a 5.9l dodge ram, and he had a ford car ready for scrap in the load bay, them things are enormous.

I drove on black ice yesterday coming to a junction, was shitting myself, but then removed my foot from the brake pedal which was the most unnatural thing i have ever had to preform, and the car stopped.

Did the same drive last night except I was pushing it abit harder than I was last time, 43mpg! I'd say it's pretty accurate myself :)

I really owe this car an apology, It's such a nice car in all honest :|
Now I'm driving it properly I'm getting more like 30mpg around town.
It does handle better than the 406 and is far more fun.
OK I'd much rather a diesel, the dash is a little cheap feeling but it's pretty funky. It's a car more modern looking car compared to the D9 406.

But... i still bloody want a 406 :?

you said when its warm you thrash it ??

thats probably the cause of your low MPG ?? try keeping under 3k revs and stop pressing your right foot so hard

my old vectra sri T reg, 2.0 16v was shite on fuel as well, 20mpg at good times, when you kept the foot down the thing only did 15 it was shite

In my diesel i can just about manage keeping the revs low because of the nice big turbo shove which in a 110 is quite more noticeable. But when im in a petrol car i just rev like mad, the fiat never had a rev counter but it was always drove in high revs, my dads primera gets a good thrashing round 7500 revs so theres always plenty of noise but a complete lack of any push, the only petrol i drove that matched a diesel for torque was my uncles old chrysler voyager it was an auto but had a 3.3 v6 and for a people carrier it was scary fast, and sounded like a ferrari.
