I'm a bit reluctant to blame the battery as you managed to start it this way, perhaps a dodgy connection elsewhere? Heading off into the car somewhere.

Oh dear, now you have two threads going for the same thing. Three, including the coupe club...

I reckon you'll need to take the side trim & kick plate off, there's also a torx holding down the petrol flap lever.

Sounds like a simple power failure to me from the battery (doesn't explain the recovery, or being able to start this morn, but if you have a duff cell it may be possible for it to be intermittent?).

got the carpet lifted at lunch. its bone dry under there! pulled appart the blue and black plugs. they seem fine too. put them together and the car starts.

took it for a drive and it seemed ok until i turned the lights (hids) on. it went as before.

pulled over and took the plugs apart again and it returned to normal. eml light still on.

drove it some more with lights on and off and it seems fine - apart from when i came up to a roundabout when it did it again. coasted round and turned the car off and back on and it was fine. eml still on.

pulled up to work and the display keeps showing abs fault and braking fault. the dash light wihch is a skidding car keeps coming on but going off intermittently.

remote locking seems to work again and so do the windows.

any more ideas?

Seems strange that turning on the lights brought it on. Could it be worth removing the HID kit when you get home & see how it behaves when reverted to the standard light set up?

the bsi and multiplex bullshit in d9s doesnt like additional electrics, take out the hids to see if it improves.
