Go into the system Bios settings and change the boot device

it will then shouid boot straight up from sd card etc

just googled it for you Gary. Press F9 three times during boot and takes you in to the system restore. There you can reset it back to the factory settings it will wipe any current files you have pics movies etc.

think i know why, you need to make the sd card or usb flash drive bootable :?

just done that in DOS mode and its sucessfully made it a boot device :?

so the windows 7 files are now being copied back onto the usb flash drive then i can try again

PS the F9 recovery works but it crashes on startup (the laptop really is buggered with this virus)
i dont know how its got onto the hidden partition but it will not restore from the hidden partition

ive deleted all partitions even recovery, f*ck asus

and my own version of 7 is now installing through USB

the usb flash drive has to be made bootable :cheesy:
