worst "phone" ever... reception is just crap! Battery life is crap!

i've had one of the orginal 3g phones since it was released, the screen cracked after being in my pocket with my keys.

have a look at the HTC Desire HD
First day I had my Iphone the battery lasted approx 6 hours

Then I turned off "push" notifications, and the battery lasts all day
plus I make sure all apps are "fully" closed and not running in the background

As for the screen, the first thing I did was buy an OtterBox

Phone is now 6 months old, and if I take it out the case, it still looks like new

The Iphone 4 is pretty naff really software problems poor signal always breaking down, and i have many a friends that have the 4. I have a 3gs and by far better.

Battery life is dependant on your usage keeping the wi-fi setting on all the time drains the battery. I use the ipod a fair bit in my truck and its pretty good all rounder.

plod the problem is i want push notifications for work. It's a great apps based device but a very poor phone / smartphone.

It can't browse flash websites at all, so i cant use it to order pizza over the web!

Had my iPhone 3GS for 18 months now, can't live without it! Ok, the battery life is not brilliant, but ok, but then I have over 140 apps on it!! The problem with jailbroken phones is that you download unauthorised (by Apple) apps, but when you sync the phone, all unauthorised apps are erased by Apple itunes, because they are not recognised

i think now the main reason it was jailbroke is because he bought it from canada and brought it back to UK

so to allow it to work on UK networks it had to be jailbroke :?

i would buy a 4 and if its unreliable, well then theres a years warranty so if it pissed me off enough id send it back, but its a nice solid looking phone, and i assume most of the problems have been ironed out by now.

I couldn't live without my 3GS. I get a couple of days out of the battery normally, but when I'm away from power I'll turn off the wireless (and data roaming stays off!) and I can get several days out of it. If I need any more I'll use a battery-powered charger

Don't use many 3rd party apps... just Spotify, XBMC Remote, TomTom, ebay, foreign language dictionaries, sudoku (for the bog!), and a couple I wrote myself (the reason it got jailbroken within 5 mins of getting it out of the box!). Facebook works better using the browser than the dedicated app!

The camera's crap, as are all phone cameras but it does the job. Haven't bothered putting IOS4 on it either as it doesn't add anything I'd consider useful - it's already a multitasking OS and the backgrounder app lets you do it in IOS3

The phone on the HTC Desire is pretty good, except in really low-light conditions. It's also not great at capturing motion. In well-lit environments, including outdoors, it takes a good sharp photo.

One of the worst phone cameras I've ever used was on my Blackberry Storm. Even worse still was the camera on my stepson's LG Cookie.

as a very happy N8 user and a hater of all things apple all i can say is don't buy one. I must admit the i-phone has many nice features but i haven't found any yet that my N8 wont do.

I'm sure the designers at apple create a nice long list of features they want on the phone then divide it into 5 and release a new version every few months with a few more on and charge people a ridiculous amount to upgrade.

Basic things like an expandable memory should be standard, I can buy a phone for £30 from tesco with that feature so why doesn't the i-phone have it ? Oh sorry I just realised, when you run out of space buy a new i-phone!!!!
N8 16 gig onboard with the option of adding a 32 gig micro SD card.

I am biased towards the N8 as I have one but look at the i-phones competition and I think you'll find it's the same with all brands with the exception of apple.

Nah you need to install an app called appsync and it's fine.

The screens on the iphone 4 are more fragile than the 3 series phones.

The maps don't stay on the phone using the default gps, every time you use it you need to re-download the phone. GPS will kill the battery if it's not plugged into power.

Gary - i'm not always in places where i can use my laptop...

The iphone is a great apps platform but not so great a phone.
