In that case don't look for a diesel, you don't really do enough miles to justify one. Get a petrol, they start out cheaper

i think the electric car is starting to make more sense. Really most of us do less than 100 miles a day, the electric car could do the short trips and keep the proper car for having some fun or going a long journey.

Good grief man THAT'S IT!! - instead of breaking that 406 of yours build a hybrid electric HDi for the common man 8) you'll be a hero. From that little wooden shed of yours shall come great things, things the likes of which we have never seen

In a moment of desperation I've just been reading up on HJ about Golf 2.0TDi's (there's a few tasty examples for about £4.5K around) and finding that they are prone to leaking cylinder heads (coolant loss) and dodgy oil pumps (engine loss) FFS can't anyone get things right :frown:

Probably, but then we'd be into "cars lasting forever and nobody buying new ones" territory.

Still a diesel? Come on, what sort of driving do you do to "only" cover 9,000 miles?

Gaz - It refers to all TDi PD 140 and 170's, here have a looky........ http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/vo ... ection=bad

Wiggs - I know, I did say I was desperate, you started it anyway by saying 52x12=£624.00 - made me fink a bit but then up-flashed a memory of my 406 being trailered down to the shop for yet another Common-Rail related repair  I dunno :?
