Ive drove both mk1 and mk2 vectras, the mk2 was an improvement but still no 406.
The insignia i was at the launch a few years back, its a nice car, quite germanic, solidly made. But its not really an audi, and its not as good as the mondeo.
Thats the problem i see with all vauxhalls they are overshadowed by something from ford.

every car vauxhall make is a pinched idea off opel, who simply take a collection of GM parts and are told to build it within a specific floorpan so that the same car can be offered across the world bearing a few different badges.

Vauxhall is Opel, Opel is Vauxhall. Just like Insignia is Buick Regal (or is it the other way around?).
2003 - 2008: 1998 Peugeot 406 2.1 TD 110bhp LX Saloon
2008 - 2009: 2004 Honda Accord 2.2 CDTI 136bhp Executive Saloon
2009 - 2013: 2002 Peugeot 406 2.0 HDI 110bhp Executive Saloon
2013 - 2021: 2007 Peugeot 407 2.2 HDI 170bhp Executive Saloon (mapped to 213bhp )
2021 - ????: 2016 Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi 180bhp Titanium

Other way round. Buick is a rebadged Vauxhall/Opel.

Makes sense in a way.

They sold the Omega as a Cadillac Catera in the states. It was always a nice car, though mk1s had issues with rust and head gaskets. Shame they did away with it, the NI politicians are still chauffeured in a fleet of bulletproof (as in the glass, not the engines) Omegas, getting replaced eventually by Skoda Superbs.

so vauxhalls ideas are never really their ideas.
This is badge engineering at its finest, similar to the peugoet 4007, and 107
