waue1978 wrote:I used to like the Primera GT - until a mate bought one. Strangely low spec (windy windows in rear when cheaper models had them all round) & his one had something wrong with the front suspension when he bought it which was going to cost an absolute fortune to fix due to it being some kind of sophisticated set up.

That really put me off the Primera after that.
A friend of mine has got a 1992 primera 2.0eGT (150hp for not much more than 1100kgs) with less than 55k miles on it. it is UTTERLY brilliant, I've never been on a car that handles so well. Absolutely glued to the road, and really fast. As it approaches 5000rpms you can feeeeeeeeeeel the power. In 19 years, regular maintenance excluded, he had to replace a stereo cable only. In 19 years!
What a brilliant car!

Try again, my 2001 D9 was the worst car me or my dad had ever seen. Just rusted to sh*t at the rear end

Luckily they're not all like that :D

Your other points seem to be spot on, its a good handling car and economical to run. They are seriously underpowered by modern standards though

Had one of them too, excellent, the power feels much more "raw" than the P11 (mark 2).

my dad had a nissan since the bluebird (not all in a sucession but at some point) the old diesels were nothing great, but the petrol ones he had a p11 for a while was a quick car.
the p12 is just a big turd, a gutless 1.8, stupid dash, and handling that makes a remote control car feel communicative.

Haha couldn't agree more about the P12!

(and I've had a Bluebird turbo too, bit of a Nissan addict! )

The only redeeming feature of the Primera was the SR20DE engine - which is an awesome unit!

Passats of the same era drive like crap - zero steering feel and very average ride.

Old one is so much better. My friend Primera is painted with a nice red, looks very good. He and his father took care of it very well. In all these years it hasn't got a single scratch. I think it could be a collectionist's car. His father wanted to sell it, but me and my friend convinced him not to do that. The value of that car is only going to increase in time.

I have to agree with CountryPug.

I bought it was the confidence of several PSA Citroens, ZXs and Xantias that didn't have any rust whatsoever.

So I was dissapointed to find my doors returning to their natural form prematurely.

There must have been a bad batch of D9s 2001-2002.

I have a can of Peugeot lacquer aerosol if you want it.

From the time I was trying to patch up the rust on mine. Never worked out.

generally rust free body
After the comments guys about 2001-2002 cars - I'm hot footing it to the 'Blue Gem' to check rear the doors :?

Underpowered - I would agree also - maybe down to thew overall weight - but my GTX 2.0 16v hops along very nicely and does 38mpg! :D
