Gary, can you supply all the laminate flooring stuff?

Need to do my bedroom

Last time I needed stuff, I went Floors 2 Go, and cost me about £95 for the underlay ( bought the best they had ) and about £250-£300 on the laminate

I need to measure up the room, but would say it's 9 feet, by about 13ft

yes dave i can get a good range of laminates .

our underlay is fibreboards. 1 pack contains 10square meters and costs £15

in floors to go its £25 for a pack

a 9x13 room is 11.7 square meters.
i can get laminate ranging from about £6 to £36 a square meter

so the cheaper stuff would cost you about £70 mate. with fibre board underlay about £85

the cheaper stuff is decent stuff and is perfect for bedrooms

dave this is the shop link . http://www.nuwayflooring.co.uk/index.htm

its not a great site but if you click LINKS on the home page and click the relevent link associated to laminates you will go to the manufacturers site.

also google PERGO laminate floors. this stuff is a bit on the expensive side but its probably the best .

on the topic of flooring this has happened recently in my mums bedroom:

this bedroom got badly flooded on boxing day when a pipe above it burst, and the old floor went up really high, it was just ripped out and replaced with this one by an uncle who is a carpenter and has the time to be working with these solid wooden floors. Hes going to sort it out, but we didnt expect this to come back

i'm re-doing my mums downstairs on tuesday because of water damage.

frank it shouldnt lift so high ? my mums house was badly flooded and only the edges of the wood curled up ?

did you leave a gap around the sides or did you but it straight upto wall ?

what we usually do is reccomend new skurting boards going on after the new floor is put down.

beeding is ok and looks good if done properly but skurting board is always better.

leave a 10mm gap around the sides all the way round. every wall it needs to be 10mm away. or the maximum it can go so that the new skurting board or beeding will cover the gap over . some skurting board may only cover 8mm away from the wall .

this then gives you 20mm of movement allowance,

but if any floor gets flooded on it will need replacing anyway. but still leave the gap because wood expands anyway .

I've done the front room, hall, and lad's bedroom, and replaced skirting in all 3 rooms
I've already replaced skirting in our bedroom once, but sod it, it will all match around the house at this rate

The only place i've used beeding is against the french doors in front room as no other choice
