I love these 7 series, they're one of the few good looking cars BMW made.

mine had the full options list fitted, even had the original receipt from original buyer, it cost him £75,490 IN 1999
Options fitted:
TV
Dual phones, front and rear
electrical sunblinds all round
servotronic steering
parking sensors
heated electrical comfort seats
memory seats both passenger and drivers
professional sound system with 16 speakers and 6 slot changer
Fax machine
Auxiliary timed heating
quad zone aircon
M-tec multifunction steering wheel
cruise control
double glazing
electrically adjustable steering column and mirrors(wing and rear view)
autobox with TipTronic and a killer sports mode and hidden launch control option
and loads more i cant remember at the moment

the reason for selling was that we were coming over here and it wasnt the car to keep for that journey and the anticipated extra few journeys that i thought i would have to make so i sold it and bought the 406, it was an awesome car but a thirsty thing at the best of times the last time i used to come to poland on a holiday it cost over £800 in fuel for the return trip compared to a little over £120 each way in the 406 and that included the ferry

I would have another in a heartbeat it was awesome but living with a car that regularly ran at 19mpg combined was hard, on a run through germany before we had the little fella it was giving 9mpg over 200 miles i had to fill up nearly 3 times just to get across germany, i was giving it the beans admittedly :supafrisk: but still 9mpg :o the 406 did dunkirk to the polish border on one tank

a fax machine, my house doesnt even have that.
sorry officer but i wasnt on the phone i was sending a fax

but seriously that is a nice level of kit, 19mpg if converted onto lpg youd meybe reach 40mpg. But whats reliability like, my dads friend had a 740, no tv option though but still very fast the most exciting car ive ever been in. But i mind he didnt have 100% reliabilty.

The only options missing is that ericsson phone that drives it, the self inflating tyres, rocket launcher, and the bmw logo that conveniently rises up to the height of that inconveniently placed cable.

100% reliability, spent less on repairs in 2 and half years than i have with any other 10 year old car, service costs were high though even doing it myself, just the oil alone was near 75 quid a pop 0/30 fully synth and 7.5 litres every change plus filters, and those 18" wheels where cheaper to buy new with new rubber than replace the original 16 inch rubber BMW put on from the factory.

A mate of mine had one as a loan car, when his R32 Flog was in for service. Cool enough, but heavy on fuel.

I did like the inbuilt carphone - it made you feel important, when you actually aren't! :P

I'd have a 750IL on LPG for the lols and drive it Transporter-style everywhere.. while faxing.. using a mobile phone... on the back seat James Bond style.

That's one of my pet hates at the moment, but mainly with people advertising LPG cars for sale. You'd never reach 40mpg by running LPG, just perhaps have similar fuel bills to somebody with a 40mpg car & that's only if LPG is half the price of petrol (which it isn't quite at the moment - 56% on average). Once the government & fuel companies whack the price of it up closer to that of normal fuel (which they have been slowly, but surely since it went on sale) it will be closer to the equivalent of running a car that does 30mpg. Then you also have to take into account the fact that a lot of cars are slightly less economical when running on LPG.

Just because a big virsty V8 is fitted with LPG, it doesn't mean it'll do 40mpg - it'll still only do 20mpg at best, but on cheaper fuel.

I will admit to lusting after a 540 estate on lpg, but the withdrawl of the early 3.0 & 4.0 V8's for reliability issues left you wondering if the 4.4 really was sorted.

I'm sure they'd be marvellous machines, but a quick diesel makes a lot more sense financially without losing too much in terms of everyday performance you can use, (at least in the UK).
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

the early ones were withdrawn because of the Nikoseal issues but BMW got around that and then fitted the 4.4 detuned to the same HP as the 4.0, which for me was awesome it made the remap such an easy choice

It wasn't just the V8s. Early 323/523 & 328/528/728 straight sixes suffered the same until some time in 1998 when they changed the liners.
