if it flags up its a tug, and vehicle seized,
Yea but as this was a DVLNI (local DVLA) car, I was wondering do they flag to a waiting patrol car, or just print a fine? Didn't encounter any police vehicles.
theres trucks going about up here with hoists lifting cars left right and centre,
some are even clamped whilst parked on a private car park,
I've seen that. Transit vans with cameras on the roof, and a big lorry to lift a car. I've even seen a Southern Irish van been clamped because it didn't have applicable Southern tax (VRT).
not worth risking driving a car with no tax, the fine is pretty big, :(
Yea the person in the theoretical situation has learnt their lesson.

I'm not sure how it works. I don't think they can get access to the system.

Even DVLA can't access the NI MOT system.

I've a suspicion that the RoI van may have been caught by a traffic warden on foot. The street is off the Lisburn Road, a busy arterial and shopping route of Belfast.

Mega lol's when I was walking through South London at the beginning of the year - Traffic warden was booking a Mercedes A Class for having a tax disc...4 years out of date!

Here, your road tax, is usually payable at the time of obtaining a Roadworthy Certificate - less confusion!

4 years is a bit much. Here it may have been SORNed (declared 'Off Road') or it would have to be backtaxed those years

The Roadworthy / MOT is needed to get tax, and is a displayable disc in itself (or a sticker in GB)

fixored. :cheesy:

I think what happens is they wait until you don't tax it, (or try to SORN it), then prosecute as they've already got the evidence you were using it.

While it's still illegal not to display a valid tax disc, non-payment of duty is what they're really out to get people for.

A car owner, let's call him Wir Siggum, was daft and forgot to change the address on his V5 (yes I know...) from his mothers address where he registered the car because he was moving house soon after having bought the car.

He forgot to get the V11 tax renewal
ARGH! So that's why I never get tax reminders and have to spend ages waiting in line at the bloody post office? sh*t. Thought you just had to cough up to change it on your driving license (which I did...)
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

You need a V10 defrost form.
