Presuming you mean disk space, not physical space...

My PP2000 install is about 3.6GB on-disk (FAT32) over 64,000 files... That doesn't include the other stuff that's installed by default, which roughly triples its size

Cheers MJB. Providing the netbook has about 15gb spare on the hard drive it should be fine for what I want it for then. That is, if it's still available.

I got hold of the old dell, havent used it in a while and it feels like an old laptop, im used now to the fast reactions of the mac book where you click on something and then it does something, the dell you click on something, wait, click again, click more, click repetitively very fast, and then it decides to open.
The dell was always a slow laptop especially the startup is there anything that can be done to speed it up a bit? Here is the system information:

XP gets sluggish after a while.
Reinstall it?

Linux is quicker, but your PP2000 may not work, or it may work under Wine.

You need the pp2000 cable:

if you buy that you will get the software included on a cd pp2000 for peugeots, and lexia for citroens (including the xsara picasso).

they are on ebay for around £100 under the search criteria 'lexia'

i dont know, the pp2000 cable is more than just a bit of wire whatever is in the box is special it clicks and flashes when working on a car so i guess its fairly important.

but its not too expensive if you help some people out they wont mind paying £15-£20 for a few fault codes to be read (since dealers want much more) do 5 cars and it pays for itself, ive mine paid for a while back with a 206, 406, 607 a saxo, and a berlingo that i read codes on. then there is stuff a normal fault code reader cant do like add optional extras or the parameter measurment to test the brake light/cruise control switches.

Cheers,
im just looking for something that will interogate the airbag ecu,
the light for the steering wheel is staying on, the other one is going out (seats)

the handheld ones wont get into them idont think,
iwill take it into a garage and see if they can read the code,

isee your point on it paying for itself,

but id most probably use it once or twice,

The problem with normal code-reading cables and hand-held code-readers in general is that they typically like to talk using the ODB or ODB2 protocols.

Nothing wrong with that, but Peugeot and Citroen cars typically like speaking their own proprietary protocol instead.

This is where the Lexia 3 interface comes in - it's not just a cable, it has a circuit board in it, which communicates with the car using the proprietary protocol, and communicates with the laptop and the custom-built software using the RS232 serial port. The software on the laptop tells the Lexia interface to communicate with the BSI, and receives the information that the BSI sends back to the Lexia interface.

The thing is, the interface and the software on the disc aren't just designed for the 406 - they can communicate with a wide variety of Peugeot and Citroen cars, each of which have their own peculiarities and unique features - so both the interface and the software have to be reasonably complicated in order to be as universal as they are.
