Welp, she got it in the end for £3300 + her old '98 Clio. Quite a nice car really; black 3 door, 1.6HDi VTS, 59k miles - I like it. Half leather seats (a la SE model), has all the toys as my exec and more, like stability control gibbins. The only thing missing is the sat nav and the heated, electrically adjustable seats. Nice JBL sound system too. The car seems more "acoustic" than the 406.

The "flood damage" was limited to the engine, which was pretty much rebuilt. I haven't driven it but according to my dad, it's quick. But then he drives a Pug 106 1.5D

Yeah, it's run by his son, James now, I believe. Didn't think Alan retired but found it weird that my mum said there were no Alans there any more... That explains things! Hopefully they'll still do a good job come MOT time.
