Mega bargain!

You could drive that all year, go on holiday, spend nothing on it (hopefully) and still sell it for over a grand

Looks really nice - I'm assuming Dynamique from the interior. I've always liked the idea of a Laguna II - they look really nice & are well equipped as well as being dirt cheap to buy compared to their rivals. But I don't think I could ever bring myself to own one. Always read so many horror stopries about Renaults & the one time I had a go in one it felt so flimsy (although that was compared to my 6 year old 5 Series that I had at the time). Bearing in mind my luck with cars, me & a Renault would add up to big trouble!

That said though, if I could pick up an 04 plate for £530 I wouldn't be too pi**ed off if it did cost me a grand in first year maintenance. Never really been able to pick up silly bargains, even when I had friends in the trade. My best buys were a £700 Galaxy (that I sold for £1100) & my £500 190E. Never managed to get anything that far below trade price. How many miles does it have on it?

Hi waue, yes its the Dynamic, or posher word Authentic, as my insurer told me, :|
as of the Laguna, the last one ihad was just a Basic petrol, they are garbage,

this ones got most of the Toys, rear window blinds, rear screen blind, something that ididnt expect,
only thing it hasnt got is elec rear windows, the passenger seat raises and lowers like the drivers seat, alot of car for little money id say,

Mpg 41 round town,
Tax 74 quid for 6mths,
insurance Group 8 172 quid cheaper than the xsara ihad , Cheap motoring in comfort, 8)

I had that engine my Megane. Have you done a Google search for Renault 1.9 dci turbo failures? its scary reading but as long as you have good quality oil (ACEA B4 rated if i remember) in it and change the oil at least every 9k and not Renaults recommended 18k it will be fine. I ran mine with 0w 40 Mobil One in it. Also first port of call is to have a look at the EGR as they get gummed up and get stuck.

If the turbo whistles or howls loudly its on its way out and soon it will be running on its own sump oil at very high revs till destruction.

Not all doom and gloom tho i had no problems in 2.5 years :cheesy:

Yes mate, ive heard all about the Turbo failures,
iagree- its just a case of watching the oil, regualar services, they need the oil changing alot sooner than say the 406.
not a bad car tho,as it lets you know how low on oil it is or if need changing, only found that out by accident after spending 20 mins looking for the dipstick

Turbo was replaced,2 years ago at acost of 670 quid, so all looks well, 8)

as of oil ,they Need or recomend Elf. but no one sells it :frown:

yes, took me 2o mins to realise that,at first ithought sh*t someones done abodge here iwas expecting a bolt with jb weld on it in place of the dipsick filler tube or sumat daft, but no its combined with the oil cap, which you dont need to touch as when you put ign on, dash reads oil ok, and aload of dots which show the oil level,

as of the Elf oil, its looking like a Main stealer, Im not expecting much change out of 50 quid,

2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)

Does it work as an oil level indicator properly, not like the 406 which seems to be a spirit level which reads low oil if you park on a hill :cheesy:
What is the laguna like to drive?

Regards servicing, 18k is a huge interval. That could be over 2 years
I generally use he rule of thumb to change the oil on my cars every 6 months. Maybe overkill but I reckon cheaper than a garage bill :?:
