The only thing that my cat received from the vet is 1 shot and that was because he had very dry hair, furr, how is it called.
His hair was dry as a grass in the summer,he got a shot and never had problem again.
No flea or anything, like i said, only had few when he was small, now nothing.
We live in a flat and he is with us constantly, only at weekends when we go home he spends some time in nature.

Yes,the vets are cheap here, when i see prices in UK or other i cant belive, they are ripping you off on everything.

Tell me about it, i gotta take my dog for his booster in the morning £51 and if i don't do it by 11th November he has to start the treatment all over which means 2 injections... We can't get any help from the rspca as the wife works full time (albeit on low income)
Really can't afford it but I'm scared he'll come down with an illness after all the problems he had as a pup.

Time to get the fooking credit card out.

I think that's what the mrs said I'll find out in the morning, that's on top of the £8 i paid them yesterday for his wormer.... again i stick to what he's been on since a pup with his illness... Don't mind that so much tbh it's only one every three months.

What anoys me with vets is the Tablets and stuff,
some of them are pretty much simalar too human stuff and they will sting you on them.

ive lost all faith in vets after they tried chopping my dogs tail off idont trust them anymore so the dogs will be staying away from
them if they can. but saying that some vets actualy do like animals and there not just in it for the money.
but finding the decent ones up here is hard :(

I tried telling my Daughter she should train to be a Vet....."good money" I said.

She doesn't like blood and guts though and when they said it'll take 7? years of training she ran a mile  she might train instead to be an 'Unexplained Virus' diagnoserer, sorry, 'GP'.

Friends of ours had one of those tiny mutant dogs which ate a 'pop sock' one day and got ill (steve earwigs dogs would just sh*t it out the next day) but this thing got it stuck.........£3,000.00 later and the Vet ran out of "insured money" and they pulled the plug on the pooch :|

That is sad, worse still it's not the first time I've heard of it happening either. [bit of politics] That's what it'd be like for us if the tories have their way with the NHS  [/fini]

Mary the retard ate a scrunchy, it did indeed exit from the other end.

I keep telling our vet here she's working in the wrong country, here she's paid a pittance, has to do her best with broken equipment (I fixed her operating lamp yet again yesterday) and her boss treats her like poo. She's a divorcee, unfortunately with a teenage son who has no interest in learning English or anything much really, apart from breaking anything electronic :frown:

Sad indeed i had to do that with our old dog he came down with something one day and after speaking with the vet who said it could be anything and cost from £80 to thousands so i had the poor thing put down (and i had both my girls with me because of school hols) :(

I swore after seeing the heartbreak that we'd never have another dog but 3 women constantly nagging i gave in after 4 months.

We made sure we insured this one but he's already over a grand into the 7 grand maximum payout per illness so the lil fecker better stay fit.

the vet situation is same as with mechanic, you really have to go to indiana jones mode and search for the best people.

I found a vet in my city, woman is really good, its obvious she loves animal cuz she started playing with my cat and told a bunch of usefull things about them, but the other guy we phoned first was almoust like talking to a dead guy.

£50.20 to be exact  only plus side he remembered her from last time and showed her she's not boss when she had a feel about

@Welly there was a young work experience girl there and i asked her if it's what she wants to do or is she there just to have proof that she's been... The vet had a chuckle about this but the girl seems to really want to become a vet and when i said you got a long course of up to 7 years ain't you? she said 5-7  .

Long old time to get up to your ears in student loans that.

steve_earwig wrote:Yes they eat mice, time was when that was their job! Ours bring in mice, sometimes live ones, and guess who it is has to catch them while the bluddy cats sit on the counter waiting for their food
Speaking of which, a good few months back the wife opened the spice daw/cupboard thing to find a mouse looking at her and guess whose job it was to get rid of it  So this morning, as I'm not feeling too good, I thought I'd defrost the freezer. It has a funnel thing you're supposed to clip in the bottom so it drips into a bowl, instead of onto the floor. Knowing where it should be I got a chair and went to the long cupboard up the top, it's no use for storing much because it houses the pipe for the extractor fan, but there is enough room to store all the receipts, user manuals, transit screws etc. for all the electrical goods in the kitchen. I opened it up and.. guess where the mouse was living  It's turned the whole lot into sh*t-filled, p*ss-soaked confetti :frown: I've just spent half an hour pulling it all out carefully, rescuing what I can while the rest disappeared up the vacuum. And what wasn't even in there? Yep, the funnel. Bluddy wimmin!!! Why can't they put stuff back in the same place?!!

Mate of mine here has dormice living in his house, we can hear them running about under the floorboards and in the hollow walls. They don't steal any food 'cos it's all shut away, they live off the walnut tree outside his front door. He doesn't seem to mind until the population builds up, when he starts trapping them and, er, eating them  I was quite surprised when I first saw one, I was expecting something quite small but they're about the same size as a squirrel and look like a cross between a rat and a squirrel. The creepy thing is some of the ones he's caught have had their brains eaten while they've been in the traps by something else that's living in his house...
