Ooh, not just me then...
Lastly:
Or should that be The Handbrake of Stupidity? Do they ever work? I had a Nissan (first and last time, yuck) which had a handbrake so good I reckon it'd be on it's roof before the wheels turned.Welton wrote:The handbrake
My D9 too, so hard to get a smooth change. My clutch
Lacquer seems to have peeled off on the D8. Strip and repaint? The scabby boot badge
See newby post. I do know that if you leave them off mud goes everywhere. The door cill rubbers
I have the answer for you, 9 bars of compressed air...The drippy door handles after you wash it
The drippy wing mirrors '' ''
The drippy rear lights '' ''
The impossible-to-dry honeycomb front grille
They adjust you know. I've had so many cars where they didn't...The 'rake' angle of the steering wheel
I modified the backing rubber. The strange electrical feedback noise from the driver door mirror
Turn the radio up?The faint knocking at the rear, but still passes MOT
Weigh savings = thinner pannels, sadly. The easy-to-dent side panels
You must have a saloon...The look of the rear end sometimes
Wanna buy a Nissan? The 'cheap' feel to the centre console/handbrake suround (nasty plastic)
At least they don't go clang!!The way the doors sound when you shut them (too light)
They stay off if you disconnect the compressor wiring...The way the A/C won't stay 'OFF' when you tell it too
Neither of mine have an alarm so I can't help you there. Try shutting the air vents? The alarm goes off when it's windy
Lastly:
So gradually that you don't notice until it's gone all the way...trem1 wrote:dont forget about the height adjustment on the drivers seat that keeps going down
the way the boot rattles with the slightest bass,
the ac thing again...
lack of space or whatever for an induction kit........
the handbrake...
the sun shield in the back, rattles too... reminds me..must remove it..
other than that i love my 406

It would be nice if it adjusted a bit further though. For various reasons (being tall with a bad back) I have to sit with the chair right back and the back reclined a lot which means I'm playing a delicate balancing act between non-pain and being able to reach the wheel. ISTR my Mk1 Laguna's wheel came riiiiight back, but that might have just been the chassis bending or something...steve_earwig wrote:They adjust you know. <steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
Mine works fine in hot weather (we do occasionally get some!). Perhaps you should try getting yours re-gassed?STALLED wrote:The aircon is sh*t when it hits above 30 degrees!

Apart from the ECUs for the airbags and speedo I've not had any electrical gremlins, probably because they don't shovel salt everywhere at the first sign of frost (old cars here don't rust either, there's all sorts floating about, a Fiat Topolino pulled out on me the other day...) I miss cars with disco lights. You know, it used to be typical of mark 3 corsets: indicators work fine, brake lights work fine but put the two of them on together -michaeljclark wrote:Mainly just the electrics, everything else (touch wood) is OK
D I S C O !
Its cold...but not as powerful as some of the local product such as the Holden Commodore and the Ford Falcon!mjb wrote:Mine works fine in hot weather (we do occasionally get some!). Perhaps you should try getting yours re-gassed?STALLED wrote:The aircon is sh*t when it hits above 30 degrees!

Might get it regassed though - pretty cheap solution!
Since welly has been kindly enough to quote my low brake fluid level so i supposed i don't need to list my shite braking case.
apart from that;
- the clutch
- electrics
- stupid indicators
- crappy bottom torque
otherwise, it's a totally nice car with the nice piece of ass.
