Also some tyres suit some cars but are rubbish on others. And I suspect there's a fair amount of reviews on there that aren't legit.

Just been out for a good drive. Road were damp/greasy.
They are definitely harder than the ContiSportContact3s I had previously.
They offered more grip in the wet than I ever got from the Contis.
There is a bit more feeling in the steering too.

I'm quite impressed. Il get the tyre pressures adjusted in the morning when they are cold and see how they manage in the dry.

I wouldn't say that Rich. Hankooks aren't budgets! They are a good mid range tyre like a Khumo or a Falken.
Just happy they seem to be up there with the Continentials/Bridgestones/Goodyears etc that I use usually!

I fully agree you should buy the best quality you can afford but as with so many things buying the expensive/well known brand name of anything doesn't always mean you're buying the best.

I've tried Kumhoes and yes they were very good.........but didn't last long. We run Mercedes Vito's at work and have found that the Continental tyres would get at least 40K miles but the budget/mid-rangers would see about 25K so the Premium brands do kinda work financially although a bit eye-watering to begin.

If you're driving like a tool in the wet you deserve to fall off the road regardless of rubber. Just like 4wds in the snow. Even though my pajero had a brand new set of bfg mt tyres on it you still needed to take care cos the lsd had a habit of locking around corners and kicking the back end out:x .
I've recently had nankang ns2 fitted to my car and no complaints so far, better than the mix of michelins that came off it. I bought them after talking to a friend who has 19"s on his A6 and his only complaint was they were tad noiser than the contis they replaced but after 16,000miles he hadnt noticed any other difference

Time and a place an' all that.
Nothing wrong with progressively testing your car on quiet roads regardless of the weather. As long as it's somewhere that if an accident were to happen you will only hurt yourself then what's the issue?
Don't for a second think I was launching my car into wet corners at a billion miles an hour because that's far from the truth. Take a slow, long bend and progressively apply the throttle until you feel a little under steer, there's your limit!

Also having good tyres isn't about being able to chuck your car about in the wet! It's about knowing that if for any reason I had to take evasive action, if for any reason I have to slam my brakes on or if for any reason I need to drop a gear and accelerate out of a situation I, within reason have the most grip possible to help my remove myself from that hazardous situation.
