Hi Bailes, what map are you running?.

Looking at getting my new shinny car remapped. I have a brand new golf GTD.

Looking at getting my new shinny car remapped. I have a brand new golf GTD.

I have a few maps for my car. Infact I have a nice selection of them now. :cheesy:
123bhp/320nm's (Standard)
139bhp/366nms (DNA stage one)
146bhp/395nms (AMD Essex Stage One)
163bhp/410nms (Stage Two)

The Stage Two is good but it's very harsh in it's power delivery. Nothing till 2200rpm and then it goes like the clappers till 4000rpm.

The two stage one maps are much smoother, then start to pick up about 1700rpm and pull hard till 4000rpm where they start to tail off.
The AMD stage one map is the best compromise without a doubt! But if you have lots of fast sweeping A roads with lots of overtaking required you can't fault the stage two!

I just wish I could upload them all to the ecu and be able to pick what I want as I'm driving.

The car needs a bit of TLC though. The turbo vanes are sticking, unsure if it's the vanes themselves or a faulty solenoid. It needs two new lower arms on the front as one of the bushes has failed and trailing arm bushes on the back. There's no play in any of the bushes, they've just split front the outer ring so they squeek. I've also got a rattle in the drivers door, a rattle behind the dash and the steering cowling is rattling too! It could also do with some paint work as it's got road rash (which you'd expect for a 30k p/a car) and picked up two nasty scratches since I've owned it.

My biggest regret is not having it fitted with LPG fumigation a 12 month ago. It'd have paid for itself by now and I'd have a cleaner, cheaper and faster diesel!

Still, considering it's got 137k on the clock is still drives like it's a day old! Just hope it gets through it's MOT next month.

Very nice, well done!

I like a clean car as next as the next man, and have some products to help but I don't buy into all this sort of stuff:

Really? oh pleeease

DEEP 'MAROONY' AND SLIGHTLY BURGANDY SORT OF RED WITH A BIT OF PINK FLAKE :cheesy:
I think you had a bit of a typo there Welly! I fixed it for you cause I'm a cracking chap like that! :cheesy:

And I don't think a Ford magazine wants to a feature a burgandy Mondeo with a huge exhaust which has been lowered slightly.
My local Ford club had a rolling road day down at Got Boost in Muzz racing and Performance Ford turned up. As Steph at Muzz Racing is the only person I let touch my car these days I thought it'd be rude not to go!
I think I was the only person who actually made more than their estimates actually! I was expecting 140bhp/360nms on the AMD stage one map and it made 146bhp/395nms which was nice! :cheesy:

Well I say Muzz are the only company I let touch my car. I have it booked in on the 3rd May in Kwik Fit for a service and an MOT.

I am literally amazed that you're having Kwik Fit do a service given your previous with high street chains.

Is there not an independent garage you can use?

Are you trying to keep a stamped service history or would you do your own oil changes in future and keep records?

On a different note my Wife's ashtray is a 53-plate with fully-stamped book only this year I pondered if it was all worth doing? the car's probably worth £600.00 on a good day with or without history. I shall be changing the oil myself*

*no I won't.

It all started last year when I used Kwik Fit in Myrther Tydfil to regas my aircon and surprisingly they done a superb job!

I had a few vouchers off them and my Mothers car was due a service so I booked it in to Kwik Fit in Bridgend and they also done a cracking job too!

Then a few weeks ago I decided to start using Kwik Fit for tyres and balancing as the company I used to use seem to have gone utterly useless.
First was my set of Goodyear Eagle F1s I had fitted about 18 months ago, one went out of shape after 3k and basically got told to get stuffed when I said it was a defective tyre.
Then I went there a few times for wheel balancing and they seem to be unable to do it at all!
This includes a few weeks ago when I had new Hankooks fitted up front. I asked them to balance the backs too! Took it straight out on the motorway and the whole car was vibrating like a bastard! Went straight back and told them to be told "Well they were fine when you left, there must be something up with your car!"
I took it down to KwikFit, they balanced all four wheels, relieved me of £27 and sent me on my way. It's been perfect ever since! Actually, if you look for deals on their website they aren't to bad on tyre prices either!

As a last test I sent my Mothers car back in last month for it's first MOT and another full service and watched them like a hawk and couldn't really see anything wrong.

So I've bit the bullet and booked mine in! Full Service, MOT, brake fluid change and an aircon service for £200 with a 25% off voucher. Can't really fault the price to be fair!

Fair enough, to be honest it's mostly about the manager and the staff....if you get a good team you could put them into any brand of business and it'll work well. Your local team must be good.

Last time I went to Kwik Fit I was kinda ushered away and told to come back in an hour (I hate this) although it is a small old place serving a large community. I could'a waited in the 'reception' on the cheap coffee-stained chairs reading Michelin brochures but opted for a stroll instead. They did the work and it was fine to be honest but I like to get in with the action a bit, Elf 'n' Safety got in the way.
