The light source is kinda gathered together and 'projected' via an ellipsoid reflector and a glass condenser 'globe' in front so I guess it doesn't matter if you have short (brighter) filaments or longer (duller) ones they will still 'project' the same beam......But the brighter bulb will give a brighter overall beam.

I believe some of the main benefits of projectors are less 'scatter' of the light and less glare to other drivers.

My own projectors were sh*t until last weekend I carried out a modification and 'lifted' the beam angle a tad......the difference coupled with the new bulbz is like night and day (ha ha) and I am kicking myself for not doing this 5 years ago. Night driving is now so much less stressful.

Well, if they do put out more light than standard bulbs, there is obviously more light out ahead of you where it's needed, despite the silly blue filter.

Compared to a lot of other bulbs (Nightbreakers etc.), there's very little blue on those bulbs, it actually seems a bit like an afterthought or a marketing exercise. They'd work better without it, obviously, the question is how much of a real impact it has.
