I was asleep until all the Fireworks started, this seems to be escalating every year now. Another 'must have' culture thing.

That's actually getting less here, they've even made it illegal to let them off before the 27th and after the 1st. When I first came here it went on for weeks with a crescendo on NYE and for days afterwards. Plus there was automatic weapon's fire in amongst it.
Anyway, last time I looked at the price of the things they were amazingly expensive, you wonder where the money comes from.

No change there thenCaptain Jack wrote:Simply cannot be arsed.... Falling asleep at the table.

To be fair I've got to reconcile December's Sales Ledger and start a new Contract Tender (which already looks like a piece of sh*t) so I feel the same way

Re: Finishing work 19th Dec for 2 weeks YEEE HAAA
I'm thrilled to be back in work today...
I ended up working on the Monday and Tuesday before Christmas, so I suppose I've technically "lost" those 2 leave days - I can see a conversation about that in my near future! Was supposed to be back in on Friday but I've had (got) the dreaded lurgy, completely wiped me out last week, plenty of it going 'round!
Christmas Day was OK, kids got spoiled rotten! The in-laws turned up an hour late for the lunch I'd made (problems with FIL's oxygen apparently) so I spent an extra hour swearing in the kitchen trying to keep the food alive, luckily I had a bottle of wine to distract me
. Lunch was delicious
. Then at the other end of the day BIL was reversing FIL's car out of the drive and managed to smack the mirror on the gate post, ripping the cover and indicator lens off it. It was a good effort mind 'cos he shuffled back and fore 3 times before actually hitting it! The parts would probably have been salvageable if he hadn't driven over them 3 times while performing several more shuffles before eventually clearing the gates
. So the start and end of the day were both a bit stressful, but the bit in the middle was fine.
Boxing Day saw me ordering Focus mirror parts on 'tinterweb, then going to the In-Laws for tea, where it was far too cramped and hot and the telly was on far too loud with no-one watching it because everyone was too polite to turn it over! I drove, the wife had a bottle of wine
On the Saturday I went to the rugby and on the Sunday I had a lovely day out with the wife, including lunch and a show, so that was my holiday right there
On the Monday I decided to sort out the fitted wardrobes in our bedroom, figured it'd take 3 days so should be finished New Years Eve. Spent some £s in Ikea and emptied the old wardrobe so the whole upstairs looked like a bomb had struck, started to remove the old wardrobes and promptly got struck down with this cold. The next couple of days saw me struggling like hell to do relatively minor and easy DIY tasks, 10 mins work, 20 mins lying on the bed sweating and puffing! SWMBO was quite supportive but obviously unimpressed with the lack of progress....
The in-laws were supposed to come down again for NYE but moving FIL is too much like hard work so we went up there, where it was far too cramped and hot and the telly was on far too loud with no-one watching it because everyone was too polite to turn it over! It was her turn to drive but I was too ill to drink, so I drove, the wife had a bottle of wine (and some other stuff)
It was the little 'un's Birthday on Saturday so I had to bake a cake on Friday, I was going for a nice chocolate sponge but SWMBO wanted a Skylanders themed cake. It took me about 6 hours.
Eventually finished the wardrobes, got rid of the rubbish and started putting everything back in there yesterday.
The cold is much better but I've got a feeling that the remaining cough and sniffles are going to last for weeks
Need a holiday to get over the holiday.
Happy new year all!

Re: Finishing work 19th Dec for 2 weeks YEEE HAAA

Hope you get over it soon.
Mine was pretty uneventful, nice to see the whole brood on Christmas day, (don't see my son & his partner too often as they live in Cambridge and his days off are almost always midweek).
I still remember giving him grief when he passed up college to get a job collecting glasses in a city centre bar.
He takes over as general manager in a few weeks, which kinda shut the old man up......

2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

I am going to shut up about my woes right now!DaiRees wrote:>All that stuff<
Bloody hell Dai

All you needed to top that lot off was for your halfwit BIL to scrape all down the side of the Volvo.
