Despite hating my 406 sometimes, here's why I love it too

i quite like the handling of the 406, its good compromise. going round slower corners (e.g. round abouts) it does roll quite a bit, but its is big car with high profile tryes. Show it a country road at around 50mph and the handling is just plain fun, its also good fun round the bigger round about you can take at 40 to 50.
Driven quite a few large saloons, found the octivia (old shapes) are too soft and have plenty of body roll at all speeds. mondeo's are the reverse, hard not much body roll which is good for fun but not so good for the longer jounery.
the 406 you can drive 200 miles down motorways and A roads, will you get to the last bit down a winding B road and still in a state that you can put your foot down and enjoy the handling! Then when you get home you just want to get back in the car shoot down the b road again!

I quite like the handling of mine it seem to quite happily stick it nose in and fly round corners, maybe it has something to do with the great heavy lump at the front?
It would be even better if i shelled out for some decent rubber because its the tyres that give in before my nerve

Always had Eagle F1s before and they are stunning but not sure if I can get them in 406 size.

the steering i think is one thing that lets it down, its too light when you push it hard, its fine for a big car, but the steering in a 306 is far better, albeit a fair bit heavier, at the end of the day the 406 is no sports car, it handles amazing for the size and weight of the bugger, but i agree with eric the 306 is a whole different league when it comes to handling, but then again they are two completley different cars
the 406 saloon handling is nothing compared to the estate, having owned both i can safely say the estate is LOT more fun

Agree with you on the brakes, They are good initially but fade off quickly. You nearly had me for a minute there, those are NCT5's, its the Eagle F1 GSD3's that I was after, awesome tyre. Just don't come in that size.supafrisk wrote:Umm.. yes you can. because they are goodyear eagle nct5's, the goodyear eagle F1's are a completley different tyre
