Yeah the NCT's are standard issue on the Ford Falcon down here and they are pretty impressed with its handling. Also heard that they get good reviews!

Outta interest is it a V rated tyre?

The original tyres were H rated, but the V rated NCT5's are actually a couple of quid cheaper than the H rated ones, so that's what I've ordered.

I always wear out the back near side first, it's the way the 406 handles. There aren't many FWD cars that try this hard to oversteer

. Plus I also do 2 40mph roundabouts every day

Phew, glad Im not the only one then. Thats the same tyre that I have problems with although the off side rear isnt much better!

Where do you guys get your tyres fitted if you order them online?

My mate's bro is the service manager for a local main dealer, so he's usually pretty good. Used to charge me £4 a corner for fitting, valves and balancing, but IIRC he added VAT last time

I also have a fall back plan in the form of a local independant tyre place (also run by a relative of a colleague) who does them for £6 each. But I've had tyres fitted by a couple of other independant garages. Most of them will do it if you ask nicely, but agree a price before you let them start. I've paid anywhere from £6 to £7.50 per tyre (although to be fair the £7.50 ones were Mud Terrains on my Zook, one had a total of 380g of balancing weights

).

Hi to all

This is a subject close to my heart as my 2.1TD D8 just failed the MOT for the 2 rears and the fronts are'nt clever either with Winter coming!

As I am skint (as usual)

What do you know about having part worns fitted??

My local reclamation company (NOT a scrappy!) will sell 14" for a tenner and 15" for £15. Having said that apparently, the local Quik-fit want to charge £25 per corner to fit them.

I don't have relatives in the motor trade and am trying to cut corners/save money for my Silver wedding aniversery celabrations in N.Ireland....(More Guinness!)

BTW I don't really blame QF as they have to cover their rear in case anything goes wrong.

As far as I can tell there is nothing wrong with these tyres as they (mainly) come from vehicles that have been involved in shunts...Anybody got any clever thoughts or hints.

Forget the franchised companies for fitting unless you know someone who works there. Find a backstreet independant garage, easy bucks off the books for them

Cant complain about part worns. Just make sure you are allowed to see them before they are fitted, I use part warns as track wheels, just because they are a hell of alot cheaper than normal tyres, can get them for £30 a pair fitted at a few places round here.
Last about 2/3 track days, so keeps the days nice and cheap!
