Is it out with the tape measure time again? What you could do is measure the pedal travel and we could all have a compare. My D9's clutch seems fine to me, then my D8 also has a hydraulic clutch.

My D8 hydraulic clutch does all its business in about the first 3 inches of travel. If I rest my size 13 feet on the pedal with the wrong shoes on, it can slip... but as long as I don't do that I think it's perfect for my feet as reaching the bottom of the travel is hard work with big feet

My d9 clutch does all its business in about an inch of travel!! I do get judder when pulling away etc, but I put this down to not having enough travel to control the application of power. Its either on or off, with not enough in between! Its worse when pulling away on a hill, where you need to balance the clutch, and shocking when reversing up a hill. I think the clutch is ok, as there is no slip, its just the very high bite thats causing me a problem! :!:

Drove my d9 today, and the clutch felt totally normal!! I am wondering if it was because it was cold? I didn't go far as its SORN at the moment. :?: Is there any chance it could be playing up as it gets hotter, and if so, what would this indicate? :?:

Just an update really! I have been using the d9 for a week now and have gotten used to the clutch!! All that worry for nothing

Love the ride, the look, and the extra power over the d8 derv donkey, but sh*t do i miss the old girl! She is currently laid up at my old mans workshop where I am getting her ready for the road once more! Crazy?? ..probably, but that old motor has been a good friend to me, and for the sake of another £200, she will ride again!

I cover around a thousand miles a week, and the petrol d9 is giving me an average of 30mpg, which is hurting my pocket!

The worst job to do on the d8 is the lower engine mount, which involves removal of the drive shaft! Anyone tackled this job before? Any tips? :?:

Good man!

I've been thinking along the same lines recently.

Thinking about spending (probably the cars worth) on bringing upto date things like suspension bushes all round, engine mount, DMF and clutch, a remap etc.

I would then get to keep my comfy charriot, especially as I know it very very well now. Heck I should do...it's been in bits quite a few times I think I've seen it all :)

Same here, I have had the d8 in all sorts of pieces over the last two years so I feel a bit intimate with her

It would be easy to fine another d8 derv for pocket money, but its a trip into the unknown! The big swinger for me in keeping the d8 is the recent cambelt and water pump, wheel bearings, new alternator and brakes.

My hydraulic clutch on the 2.1TD is also quite high. Too high... but it's been like that since I bought it 60,000 miles ago (on 135k now) with no problems. The clutch on the coupe HDIs seems to be just as high as it is on mine.
