Now lets see, 613.9m / (67.14l / 4.54) = 41.51 mpg or well overdue for checking pressuresTooT wrote:Dogs?steve_earwig wrote:And throw out all extra weight - tools, building supplies, cows...![]()

Lots, but you'll also pay for 6 sets of tyres a yearmunfred wrote:If I put 50psi in all the tyres do you think my mpg will go up

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Re: Pump your tyres up and get Free Fuel (I am an idiot)
Finally checked mine for the first time since I bought it in October
Looked at the sticker, says 2.3 bar F + R lightly loaded / 2.3 F 3.2 R fully loaded....
Gets to garage - posh automatic pump only works in psi
Varied between 24 & 27
So I standing in the snow trying to remember 1bar's about 14.5 psi so 2.3 = about 36??
Vaguely remembered Dai saying more in the rears & suspected the pump a bit so I compromised on 35 F / 36 R
Suspension seems a bit firmer, streering's a bit lighter
I'll watch the mpg with interest, but now I'll never know if it's the exhaust or the tyre pressures

Eh up Doggy
You will definately see an increase in mpg
As someone else said - most garages/tyre places just blob 30 psi in and that's your lot

Idd, even if you've got loads more or less in your other three, buy a replacement tyre and they'll bung 28-30 in for you unless you ask.
I realise an estate has more weight to deal with across the back, but a saloon's pressures ought to be more or less even, right? Perhaps even a little more in the front when the car's empty, to accommodate the mass of the plant? ATM I'm puffing 'bout 35 psi in the whole lot.
And yes doggy, 1 bar = 14.5 psi, or there abouts.
Note to self: pump tyres tomorrow. Also, consider buying diesel so that annoying light on the dash'll go out ^^
